Oil analysis?!

How do you get Oil Analysis done - are there kits you purchase? Or do you have to send a sample to a lab to get it formally analyzed - like a radon test?!

Just curious - thx,

Mobil Oil used to do all our oil analysis on the supply boats and tugs we ran. They will send you a kit with a sample bottle and instructions. Try a fuel oil supply company in your area. I bet they have the kits on hand.

I had these guys http://www.blackstone-labs.com/ do one for me one time. You can either send in your own sample container or order a free kit from them and put the oil in it.

Thx. On average - how long does it take to get the results back.

It was pretty quick as I recall. I think it took longer to get the kit with the little bottle to put it in.

If you pay a little more it can be as short as a couple days. I didn't and believe it took about 3.5 weeks.
