Schene is accused of kicking Calhoun in the abdomen, punching her and pulling her hair in a SeaTac City Hall holding cell after her arrest for investigation of car theft on Nov. 29.

In the video, Calhoun is seen kicking off her tennis shoe, which hit Schene's shin as he was closing a holding-cell door. Schene then charges into the cell, throwing Calhoun against the back wall next to a toilet. He knocks her to the floor and, with the help of another deputy, holds her down while he punches her. He then picks her up by the hair and marches her out of the cell.

The deputy later said he suffered an injury to his shin from the teen's shoe. He then arrested Calhoun on investigation of third-degree assault.

Written reports of Calhoun's stolen-car arrest indicate that none of the deputies involved reported the incident in the holding cell. A couple of days later, a detective following up on the third-degree assault charge against Calhoun pulled the video and, disturbed by the footage, notified her superiors, Urquhart said. Schene was then placed on administrative leave while the incident was investigated.

Though Schene suffered a bruise to his leg, sheriff's officials don't believe he was injured by Calhoun's shoe.

"It appears from the video that he hit his shin on the toilet when he went after her," Urquhart said.

How this is a news??? This story is year old. The cop involved was suspended from the force and the court date was set. Once again why we are talking about this 1 year later???

Very good question. I saw this on TV this morning. Naturally assumed it was a current story. Fooled me!

It is news because the Sheriff has fired the deputy in question earlier this month.

The video was just released to the public. It sparked an appropriate response.

Unbelievably, after almost a year there is still a chance this mental excuse for a deputy sheriff could still hold a job as a LEO in Washington State.

The deputy and his assistant should spend time in prison. The administration that dragged their feet this long should be fired as well

The cop was on suspension since mid December if I remember correctly. He was seating at home collecting his paycheck till someone decided to move on....

If this "poor kid" wasnt a good for nothing car theif, mabey this wouldnt have happened to her.

Is it right that she got a beat down? No. If you were the owner of the car that got stolen, how would you feel about the video?

I dont know the terms of her car theif, so excuse me if it's a bit harsh, but I'm assuming she took off in a unlocked car at a gas station or something, and took it for a joyride...

I feel no guilt for her beat down, regardless if it's in the legal wrong or right. If you disrespect a cop, who are you going to respect?

Mabey I'm just getting heartless, but sometimes certain people need a beat down before they start to think they're above any recourse for their actions.

While you’re entitled to an opinion, I suggest you read the article and view the video. They point out that the kid was very lippy. But this wasn’t about the kid, it was about a bluntly dishonest deputy sheriff with obvious mental and emotional issues. Guys like this DO NOT belong as LEOs. The deputy clearly isn’t equipped to deal with the strain of the job. He is a disgrace to the badge.

The worst part is that the deputy’s management dragged their asses for almost a year before taking any worth while action. That is a worse disgrace. Clearly the department’s management feels justified in this kind of behavior. That makes them the worst kind of thugs.

You are correct. Thanks for pointing that out. So the real story was largely hidden in the open – in that it took department management nearly a year to fire this turd of a deputy. And do I understand he was on paid leave the entire time? The kid wasn’t the only one who took a beating – the tax payers were getting hit every day. Why did it take the management so long?

Well, it's over. Hope they reverse the 1year paid leave issue.
