Any recommendations for Odo repair??
I took a shot at trying to fix it myself and I failed....I just can't seem to figure out how to stop the shaft from moving left/right.
I don't "really" want to spend much money on it. Anybody know of somebody who would fix them for somewhere around $50? I got a guy who said $100...but that's a little much for an odo fix. I'm running on a working junkyard one right now (260k on it). PS: On back of odo a shop wrote 77k miles...so it lasted 5k before breaking again  I don't want that again.

Yeah, I had my odo repaired about 3-4 years ago by a local shop. IIRC, the cost was about $75.

Leave it broke for a few years, than fix it right before you sell the car.

I am unfamiliar with your model of car, but I believe the odometer is at least somewhat similar to the 123s. Have you seen this?

The brass collar on the left side of the shaft is a force-fit. Just tap it inwards enough to take out the slack, but not enough to put the shaft in a bind.

Any further inwards and it will no longer make contact with the other cog...Could it be possible I am missing a washer or something?
