Truth about Walmart...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKv6RcXa2UI&feature=channel

I went in their the other day and still havn't washed the stink off me. But after having done a number of projects on the company for school, this video about sums it up.

Ugh I hate going to wal mart but i've been so low on cash lately that I will admit have bought some stuff from them...

I try to go American as much as possible but there are literally 3 things in that entire super center that are made in America This video is so true!! Once I start making more money I'm going to try to never go there again...

So, where will you go if you need cleaning supplies..........or various kitchen items..........or some oil?

Do you have a company in mind that buys everything in the US?

Or is it simply good fun to pick exclusively on Wal-Mart?

Been to Target, or Pep Boys, or Rite-Aid lately? What do you find there?

The 99 cent store of course!

I don't shop at Target, yes I go to autozone, I don't shop at Rite-Aid either and I try to look for and sometimes find products made here in the USA... It's not "fun" to "pick on" Wal Mart I just don't like going there period because it's always crowded and dirty/nasty and the whole made in America thing... If I can I try to avoid it.. but as I said been low on cash so I don't have a choice atm..

What do you find that's made "here in the USA" that would be an alternative to the products that Wal-Mart sells?

Please don't mention significantly higher priced clothing or cutlery items............not a fair comparison.

I understand your reasoning to avoid Wal-Mart (you can imagine me in a place that's infested with morons), but the whole "made in America" deal is just BS.

Well, the whole reason I try and buy USA made products is for American support and quality over Chinese crap.. It's not so much that American stuff is an alternative for me, but that I trust it to last longer and not break as fast as Chinese products. It makes me happy when I purchase something that says "Made in the USA" and as an example my dad purchased a ratchet from Autozone (Chinese made) and I tried taking and injector off a jy car and the ratchet broke!! We bought another ratchet (American made) and it did the job just fine. That's the main reason I try not to go to wal mart because majority of their products are foreign made, and as stated I just don't like going there period lol

I just don't like going to dirty, crowded and unpleasant wal marts and I don't like buying Chinese made products

Ten and fifteen years ago, Chinese steel was reliably poor, at least the low priced tools were. Japanese tools were good then and Taiwanese sometimes. Still some cheap Chinese tools but I hate to tell you, Chinese steel is getting better.

All that transplanted American management and tech has raised the bar.

I think the "dirty" Wal Mart is a rare thing. There are several around me, and "dirty" is one word I would never have used to describe them.
Now "crowded" is another thing. Sometimes they are crowded. That's a good thing. It means that the management has stocked the shelves with products that consumers need, and that they are fairly priced. If the crowds bother you so much, I would suggest shopping at off-peak hours, or going to another store.

But why the "attack" on Wal Mart. In the great American tradition, if Wal Mart bothers you, simply shop somewhere else. No one holds a gun to your head and forces you to shop there. Support the merchants you choose to support.
What is the motive behind the ridiculing of Wal Mart, or its customers. Is there some elitism going on here?

You've now repeated the same mantra three times, even when challenged to find another store selling similar products that makes all those products in America.

You've clearly been unable to do that, therefore, your claim that you "try nto to go to Wal-Mart because majority of their products are foreign made" must simply be BS.

The real reason you don't go is the former. You buy all the same Chinese made products at other, similar box stores.

Most stuff isn't US made, but I rather give the profit they make on the product to the local guy who owns the autoparts, fishing, or gun store, vs the Waltons.

Try to keep some money in town and give the local guys a chance.

A well thought out answer!

There are 3 things I don't buy chinese, and try to buy "made in USA" Tools, appliances, and shoes. It is getting harder and harder to find. Many things we take for granted are not being made here. Many snap on tools are being made in China, Taiwan, and Japan. Appliance production is mostly in Mexico. Shoes that used to be made in Italy are even being made in China.

I was having feet problems so bad for the better part of a year, that I almost went to a pediatrist. My Dad said to get a good pair of shoes made in the USA. I did, and my foot problems stopped almost overnight.

Some things matter, some dont.

I dont trust the Chinese quality controls (oxymoron?)

That is your choice, and, in a free country, we all have that same choice. The problem I have with the anti-Wal mart people is that many of them want to make Wal Mart go away.--Some of these people simply want local stores; others, however, have a union-agenda, and since Wal mart is steadfastly anti union, they want to bust it. They are often not up front about their agenda, or their motivations.
