According to the numbers at the link, it's longer and wider than a Nimitz class carrier, but surprisingly only about one third the cost. It still doesn't strike me as something I want to take a vacation on.

What an ugly barge. I have no desire to ever go on a cruise.

Right, bigger is not necessarily better in this case...

Imagine, if you will, the mass-hysteria that would take place if there was the all-too-predictable "sea-going-5hitfest" that's been plaguing cruiselines these past few years...

Over 8,000 people, stuck in a tub, with no toilet paper.

OH! THE HUMANITY!!!!

Me? Fugetaboutit...

Geez. Have any of you actually been on a cruise? I have been on several. I prefer the smaller ships so far because of the more intimate feel but I can see the attraction of a ship like the Oasis, especially on a oceanic cruise. There is quite a bit to keep you entertained for the duration. The modern technology on the ships make motion sickness less likely. Do a image search on the ship and the results are quite impressive.

I'd go on her at least once to see what it's like. I checked her Itin and at least for the next year all she will be doing is Caribbean so I'll pass. Not a beach and sand guy. If she ever cruises the S. Pacific or Europe I'll go in a heart beat.

If you have no interest in 'ever going on a cruise' then she was not built for you in the first place. But then again since you have never been on one you would not know that. I'm impressed that you are so open minded.

Sorry for the rant but it just ticks me off when people ***** about things they have no direct knowledge of. What ever.

Yeah, you're probably right...considering the state of the economy, you might get a better cut of employees that give a damn about his/her job and may ACTUALLY WASH THEIR HANDS after hitting the head, vs. the crop of crewmen that used to be on these ships a few years ago.

BTW, did anyone EVER hear EXACTLY what the disease(s) was/were that may have been involved in turning those cruises into "crapperfests" anyways?

The idea of that many people stuck on one ship...

A lot of eggs in one basket...

I've never been on a cruise so I am only talking about my impression but I think I would prefer something a lot smaller. That seems like it would be cruising on a floating city. I knew someone who like to cruise only on freighters the had a small cruising section, he said it was much more to his liking.

I can drink and eat and sit on the beach with any boat. That is quite fun, and I spend most of my summer doing it. But I have no desire to do it with 5k other people. I hate crowds, and hotels, and resorts so the idea of being stuck on a floating one seems pretty bad.

This is the only kind of "cruise" you will ever get me to go on. When I go on vacation I want to see something.

I've done an Alaska cruise on a smaller boat, and it was incredible. One of my most miserable trips was on one of those big things. I'm not much of a party guy, so all the night clubs, entertainment, and crowds were not for me.

My parents have done something like this, and I really want to do it some day. Sailed from Greece to Spain, stopping over in beautiful places along the way.

My grandparents did a similer one in the Med awhile ago. I think the ship had 80 people on it. They loved it, every day you got to explore a new place.

Minus the drinking part I'm in agreement. I can pop down to the shops any time I want. I don't want to be forced into a confined area where I can only shop at the cruise lines overpriced on ship stores/restaurants/casinos. With your own boat you can do what you want to do and go where you want to go. I've also heard too many sad stories about people falling off these large cruise ships never to be seen again.....
