How does an air throttle work?
Picked up a Foretravel motorhome for a friend. Cat 3208 pusher. I think it has an air throttle. When you first start it without any air pressure, engine will just idle. Once some air pressure is built, accelerator functions. Can anyone explain how this mechanism works? Never had one before.

My guess is that it is not an 'air throttle' but an air brake safety that will not allow the vehicle to move until there is enough air pressure to stop it!

How does it disconnect the foot pedal from the accelerator linkage? Pedal moves but nothing happens to the motor.

It it's like any of the old school Army rigs I got to take a peek at, theres an air cylinder between the linkages. Could be wrong, but that's what it looked like.

If I'm not mistaken, the spring brakes engage when the air pressure drops below a certain amount and won't release until the air pressure builds up. I think the throttle mechanism is different.
