Canadiander Colt fans?

I was down at the Indy Motor speedway touring the track and museum today with the #1 grandson. I noticed some folks which I assumed to be Canadian and asked where they were from. Alberta. I said surely you didn't come to INdpls just to see the speedway?

They said they came down to go to the Colts game. Of course they play the Patriots tonight and that promises to be an epic battle but still....coming all the way to INdpls to see a colts game?

Are there many such rabid colts fans in Canada?

I still think Faulk made it to the 30 on forward progress but they pissed away 2 TO's which prevented them from challenging the spot.

That was the game of the year so far, if you ask me. Amazing. I would HATE to face Manning, be it as a player or as a coach.

Ya Tom, they are wild, almost rabid football fans

Hey, you can't blame them. When you have winter from mid September to Mid May, you have to find something to watch. And they all know when the games are on. My wife is from Alberta, so we go there quite often. I found out a long time ago to not get in the way of their foot ball watching time, Canadian or American. Matter of fact, my Brother in Law told me it can get so cold there that radio can't get through. It freezes in mid air! Television always gets through.

When the Pats failed to get the 4th and 2. I was 100% certain the Colts were going to score a TD. My only thought was how quick and will they give the Pats enough time to get the ball back and score themselves.

Wayne's catch was pretty ridiculous. Live it looked like just a good catch but when they played it back under slo-mo he had to dive around the defender and catch the ball while he was completely in the air. Manning put it where only Wayne had a chance to catch it...and he did.

I don't necessarily disagree with Billichick's decision to go for it. They were very close to getting the first down. If they had gotten it everyone would have said he is a genius. Perhaps if they would have been able to review it they would have gotten the first down. But if I were coaching at that moment, I would have 100% punted it and made them drive the field. Even with Brady as your QB, there is too much of a risk in not getting the 1st down. I loved listening to Tony Dungy afterwards. "You've got to go with the percentages and punt the ball."

But when did he demonstrate possession? That's the issue. Can't have possession if you're bobbling the ball. The replays they showed during the change of possession weren't very good angles; it was tough to tell when he had possession. I doubt a review would have been conclusive enough to overturn the call. That said, I felt that way about the "fumble" call that went against Notre Dame this weekend too, and I was sure wrong there.

On the news last night, they did show two angles of the catch. The first one, it did look like he made the catch ahead of the 1st down marker, or at least the imposed yellow line. The next angle was from the rear. It did show he caught it up by his shoulders in his hands. Then the ball slipped down to his waist. During that time he was driven back. So, I'd say correct call.

That's what I saw, too, Tom. Good call (or close enough that the Pats fans can't whine about it).

Fact is, it shouldn't have come to that. Indy made some great defensive plays on that drive, and the Pats broke down a bit. All night they were taking it to the Colts, and they just kinda petered out on that possession.

I didn't watch the game, unfortunately. I think I jinks the local teams if I watch. Its good that Indy finally has a defense. This also shuts up the Brady fans a bit.
I do think Brady is one of the better QBs out there, and is HOF bound. Still, the NE defense won the first SB. Corey Dillon added the next. The Third, I'll give Brady. It was hard to route for the Giants, but I would have routed for Dallas, if I had to.
I also note that the Redskins beat Denver. I'm also a Redskins fan, but I picked Denver to beat them. I still won the Football pool at work. It was down to me and another guy. He chose the Browns over Baltimore.
Its also good to see Caldwell doing a very good job of coaching for the Colts. When Marchibroda retired, the next guy didn't do so well. Well, we did get Payton Manning out of that losing season. I think Tarkic Glenn and Edge were a result of that. Mora did very well. I hear a buzz that Caldwell might even be better than Dungy. He isn't as conservative with calls.
NE is still a dangerous team. I though Miami or the Jets would have stepped up, like last year. Still, half a season to go.
Tom
