This is a real find for the Mercedes diesel enthusiast or anyone who wants a solid classic wagon already converted to run on veggie oil, biodiesel, regular diesel or any combination of these. The conversion is a single-tank system by Lovecraft. It is a late model 1983 300TD Turbo Diesel wagon showing 138M but the odometer was inoperative for a time (it was repaired and works now) and according to service records should be closer to 200,000 miles. These are known to cover over 500,000 miles without overhaul. Some have hit the million-mile mark. My car is mechanically excellent. It starts right up, no smoke, no leaks, runs strong and cool. The ride is smooth and solid, rattle-free. Steering is positive and tight, the brakes done recently and extremely good. Even the air conditioning works, which blows super cold! And the heater/defroster is nice and hot. All gauges work, even the clock, electric antenna, etc. It has a Sony AM/FM/Cassette/with 10 disc CD changer. It features the third-seat option in back, or folded flat for more cargo room, as well as a sliding sunroof.
The blue interior is in beautiful condition for its age - not perfect but very, very nice. A fitted dash cover hides a few hairline cracks. As a very rare bonus, this car has been fitted with a tow hitch, so it can do double duty pulling a utility trailer, boat, etc!

The exterior of the car is its weakest point. It has a few small dents and it needs paint. The chrome on the original Mercedes alloy wheels is peeling. The tires are almost new though.

I bought the car for my son, who moved away to grad school in Oregon recently. It was the ideal car for his needs, until he decided he'd rather have a pickup truck with a 5-speed and a camper shell. So we got him a truck and the Mercedes wagon is sitting here at my home, unused. I'd love to keep it for its utility and cheapness to drive (using WVO, your fuel can be 100% free!), but I'm unemployed right now and I need the cash. I'd planned to paint it and keep it, but it's not realistic right now. It's a great everyday, safe, reliable, economical car for someone!

These are bringing upwards of $8500 in excellent mechanical shape, even more with new paint. I'm selling it cheap for a quick cash deal. Clear title in hand. No salvage, liens, etc.

please do check out the pics of this, uh, lovely vehicle, remember that is has been converted by, uh, yes, that it will run for... how long? and note the weird ? personal sob story / confessional.

yes , its worth $8500? well, who knew? pm and i'll check it out for you (not!)

Here is a classic for you........This one could make it to the MILLION MILE CLUB! I bought this car three years ago and put on an additional 65,000 miles. It now has 350,000 miles on original engine and tranny. The only thing that I did was replace the a/c compressor. Very clean inside and out. It even has the original first aide kit. Feel free to email any questions.

So let me get this straight. The guy bought his son a Mercedes Wagon. Then the son WANTS a truck so he just buys him a truck. Now he is unemployed and needs to sell the wagon because he has no cash. Me thinks this is no coincidence. Most of America has no clue how to handle money.

Arrow Stay away!!!!

LOVECRAFT in Los Angeles is well known to W123 and W126 Diesel enthusiasts as a shoddy operation that essentially DESTROYS formerly good running Mercedes Benz diesel automobiles.

That * single * fact should be enough to make you run away FAST from that wagon.

This is NOT just some slander or something, it is well documented, utilize the search function on this and other Mercedes Benz fora to get the ugly truth.

for the record, i posted this because this kind of ignorance and arrogance is par for the course in los angeles, especially on craiglist. (or is it the same everywhere? )

(and yes, lovecraft is/was the local joke around here. thankfully, their shop closed several years ago, and now that nice location has finally been turned into a real business.)
