.....a great, albeit solitary meal (really solitary; 1 me in a room capable of seating 70) served by an otherwise unoccupied staff led by a young Malay who insisted that I call him Carlos even though his name tag clearly identified him as Sankrept.

It's 92 outside, and there is a massive lightening storm dancing in the rain.

There is a burka clad woman playing Greensleeves on the lobby grand piano which has a 6' tall Christmas tree on it.

Someone cue the theme from Twilight Zone, please.

I'm at the Impiana Casuarina hotel in Ipoh, Malaysia. Strange, strange place.

I got 'upgraded' to one of the deluxe rooms - it was theoretically just refurbished. Decor is straight out of JC Pennys 1974.
