How cute a 540,000 Mercury Chariot on it's original engine.

I don't believe it is on it's original engine. There was a rebuild somewhere in there!

That's a great little story! Just goes to show how far regular and routine maintenance will get you. That's a great bit about knowing she'd own the car forever so she'd buy parts with a lifetime warranty, 16 batteries and only paid for one! No doubt she treated like she'd own it forever, too.

I like her POV on elderly drivers, too.

Thats pretty cool. She is a smart lady buying stuff with a lifetime warranty like that, sure put it to good use!

I'm sure that car has had a lot of work done to it to keep it going that long, and in that kind of shape. Just look at Craig's 300D, any well built car will keep going forever if taken care of.

I know right?

I love this line:

"I'm on my 4th lifetime battery from JCPenny's"

"This is the generator!"

That IS the generator! That car was built before the switch to alternators...

That lady is awesome! I enjoy that story every time it comes around.

Thumbs up *** You go Granny!!! ***

Pistol-packing to boot! "I took the classes and I have the CC..."

That's what the 2nd Amendment is all about...anyone can carry to protect themselves...

It's a shame that an 89yo has to pack just to be able to get around...but the fact that she got the training and the permit says that regardless the hurdles out there, she's going to get to where she wants to go...and no one is going to stop her while she's on her way...

May the smell of gasoline be the only stain on her hands when she leaves this life...

I LOVED how she said that she stands by her car when it goes in for repair and that she doesn't leave it for a second. But how does she pull that off if she needs a job done that needs to be spanned over a few days, you know?

Maybe she just has the mechanic schedule a day to reserve strictly for that job so she can be there and watch? I need her phone number.. I need to ask her some questions lol
