We would never laugh at you for being new, Kurtis, but feel free to do so yourself, if you like . . .

Welcome to the club!

as for why cause I wanted to.lol I bought it here in IL. basicaly I shipped it. cost me an arm and a leg. But grey martket is a little more shady then what I did. I found a shipping comapny, loaded the car myself onto a container along with other belongings. watched the container be put on the ship, then I flew to europe, basicaly it was port to port shipping. I unloaded the car off the container and drove to my place of stay. it took awhile to find and trust the companys. a few were shady and a few were great sounding companys but cost to much for me. they provided insurence (at a cost of course). heres a link that got me started.

Why would you ship your car all the way to Germany just to drive it around....when you can rent a multitude of sweet euro MB's right at the airport.....drive them hard, then go home again, with no wear and tear on your own car. Makes no sense at all.

IT salary must be excellent in IL to be able to afford shipping your car back and forth!

Well for me, it would be a blast driving the 220 in Germany and a few other countries in Europe, I'd be all proud driving on the autobahn with my California license plates and it would just be a huge milestone for the car! I wouldn't want to drive some random euro MB that got the crap beaten out of it from other users when I can just bring mah honeh over with me and come back saying "yeah we traveled across the USA and through Europe together.

I would be so proud of the 220.. I took video of my 220 passing the "Welcome to Arizona" sign, imagine me with it in Europe!? LOL

If I had the money I would totally do it, but I'd like to start out in UK then France, Germany, Denmark and then Arjeplog, Sweden.

The rentals don't have the "crap beaten out of them"......when I was there we had a 1 year old c220 cdi 6 speed...that thing could lay down a patch, easy. It only had 11,000km on it....that's not even 5,000 miles! It drove perfectly....and was a sweeet ride....way more fun on the autobahn than any of our ancient diesels! It was just stretching its legs at 120mph.....we took it to around 150 before it ran out of steam.

Believe me, you would not want to be driving a 220d there.....especially on the autobahn.

Ok, yeah they probably don't have the crap beaten out of them but still, I'd like the 220 just because it's mine, you know?

I can see your point of a hella slow diesel on the autobahn LOL but it would be sooo cool in my opinion! I just would love flashing my Cali plates over there, or maybe my Texas ones!

Worst case scenario I would take the 300E which is faster and still would be just as cool and a tad more comfortable..
