raised chin...

While I know that many of you here will turn up your nose to this, but that is kinda the point I'm making.
Does BHO seem to raise his chin all the time when he talks to a crowd? I don't care who does it- I think William F Buckley did it also- but it's downright annoying- like he's telling a group a 8 year olds that misbehaved in the school yard they will be punished. It may be a small thing- but it's one habit he ought to lose IMHO.
flamesuit on.

I agree with MTU. That raised chin thing is an annoying habit. Even so, that guy is a kick a** public speaker. Last night's speech wasn't one of his best in terms of delivery. It was good, but probably not up to his usual high standard.

When I first started listening to Obama, I didn't particularly like his speaking style. Affectations like the raised chin put me off, but he quickly grew on me. I thought by now I would start to tire of his style, but I really don't see that happening. Time will tell whether I'm right, but I think he has an honesty and substance that many of predecessors lacked. It's not a schtick, so it doesn't get old. IMHO.

It's much less annoying than Dubya's smirk.

I think Dubya's smirk was idiotic, and I agree with you. BHO's chin makes a person think he looks down on you, but HONUS is also correct- it can be looked past. MTI's comment is like Dubya's smirk- note that 3 folks that are liberal compared to me agree with the thread proposition.

How high are the teleprompters? I think he has to look up to read them or else he tilts the head up to give the impression that he's looking up at the audience, while reading his speeches.

But did ya notice that the last 20-30 seconds of the speech he was looking staight ahead? A very unusual...and no doubt intentional...facial presentation. Stood out like a sore thumb...and I say good for him.
Look us straight in the eye when you talk to us!!!

I would argue that using the words "honesty" and "substance" to describe ANY current national office holder is an oxymoron of the highest order.

For the last 30 years, people always tell me before the election "Well, we can't do any worse than the last one" - and they're consistently proven wrong.

Hmm I don't notice the raised chin.

It's most likely related to the height of the teleprompters, instead of his ego.

I'll agree the Ws smirk also got annoying... but I'm a smirker, and people who talk down to me piss me off. so I'd rather have a fellow smirker then someone with an annoying trite that makes them come off as pompous.

I've never thought that he raises his chin, he just keeps eye contact and a "strong presence" is what I would call it....he looks much more self assured and confident than Bush....which is a good thing.
