Let's hope. Probably left over from a previous attempt to market the wreck.."have a drink first, then I'll take you for a ride."

I like the gold Merc next to it.

they can "stretch" that one for you too, i'm sure. (then you can have a pair of matching vulgarities in your driveway? )

I would have based it on the 300, to take advantage of the air suspension's ability to maintain ride height under load.

well, yes. but why not get a f***ing 600, instead of thinking you're as smart as the boys in stuttgart? (or wherever they built them)

They built them in Sindelfingen, but there's a reason why, also.

The 115 and 123 models were made in stretch versions by DBAG for Euro businessmen.

The idea of the 600 Grosser Mercedes was completely different. The 600 cars were meant to be for wealthy people or special activities, like state receptions, etc.

The 600 SWB actually was more of a high maintenance finicky ***** than Madonna. The hydraulics and other systems such as the air pillow system were not as well conceived as one would hope and needed expensive rework in very little time militating against (IMHO) the time-honored durability that made the cars legendary, like the early W 189 cars.

I have helped people work on these and you can't imagine how many problems there were, such as people getting broken fingers or cuts from the super-powered 3300 psi hydraulic windows, when the dump valve controls didn't work!

The stretch cars were a way to avoid the problems and re-inforce the durability reputation which MB rightly deserves in most cases.

AND make money using well-amortized bodies that were instantly recognizable and familiar, yet distinctive.

my 2 cents

point taken. (and worth more than 2 cents) however, in my humble opinion, it looks funky.
