Closing i90? Seriously (and more bad news)!

So I go out to my lovely Merc Snow Bug and unlock the doors using my new keyless entry (woot!). I preglow the system twice since I'm over due for a valve adjustment and kazam she starts right up.

I was planning on going into town today to pick up some money owed from a friend while she is at work, buy some leather driving gloves, and visit grandma and troubleshot her non working internet.

BUT NO!

I get to the on ramp for i90 and there's a volunteer fire fighter with cones blocking the on ramp. Great! It's closed.

No matter! I go down to route 20 and make a left onto the 4 lane country road. BUT WAIT there's a state trooper who waves me down and warns me that it is probably not a good idea to travel down this road with a rear wheel car. He did complement me on how good looking my diesel car is

I make my way back home and then I get a phone call from my indy who was going to put my new axles in sometime this week when I get them in the mail from CVJ. He apologizes and tells me that there is a 6 ft snow bank in front of his garage and the mini road to get to his garage is completely covered.

Then on top of that my step dad hit the mail box outside with our snow tractor and completely destroys it. Guess who has to fix it?

YARG!

But it's not a total loss. The tractor is now in the barn and Benzy is nice and toasty in our garage

Between Ripley New York and Erie Pennsylvania. They can't keep the roads clear enough because the snow is falling so quickly.

Its been flurrying here all day. No real accumulation, but in general crap weather. I was going to go out and do some stuff today but its just not worth it.

I have learned in the snow unless you have to go somewhere don't. I'm not worried about myself I can drive just fine in the snow and have little trouble with it, I'm worried about the other morons on the road. Thats why autobody shops LOVE snow.

So insted I'm waiting for 5 so I can crack open a bottle of Captain Morgan private stock and enjoy the snow under a warm blanket in front of the TV.

I know exactly what you're saying.

Why wait till 5? As of writing this it's 5:33 somewhere over the Atlantic

I am convinced that early settlers moved into certain areas of NY in June. I am also convinced that when Jan came along they coined the phrase "WTF!" (near watertown ny 2008)

All these pictures remind me of why I live in the South! These areas that get the big snows and cold could not offer me anything that would make me want to live there!

Why struggle day after day just to do simple things like go to work, the grocery or school?

Hard to explain. NY is beautiful in the spring /summer/fall. The area the OP was referring to is Grape country.
The Wine Trail is about 40 miles long and runs amidst 30,000 acres of vineyards along Lake Erie in western New York and Pennsylvania in “America’s Grape Country”. http://www.chautauqua-wine-trail.com/

NY Adirondack Park...Today, at 6 million acres and larger than Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Great Smoky, and Everglades National Parks combined, the Adirondack Park and Forest Preserve is the largest park in the nation outside of Alaska.

The rise just beyond the Narrows is Shelving Rock Mt,
and beyond that is the taller Buck Mt.

Winter is what keeps the fire ants, Burmese pythons, and southern rednecks away.
The Adirondacks are truly picturesque, but the black flys and spring mud are enough to keep me here in PA.

I don't mind winter, its not that bad. I'd mind it even less when I can afford to spend most of it in a warmer place.
