Just read a post on the Google Android iphone[Nexus One].It's about 80.00/mo.Don't know if i need it at that price.

Yes, to get the subsidized price, it's a two year contract at 80/mo. "Smartphones" that are subsidized only make sense for the carrier if they bundle it with the voice/data commitment.

My son just bought a new Apple iphone.It has a large screen because uoy press on an icon and the numbers come up. The same with the letters. It is too expensive for me per Mo. Are there other phones with a large screen that work the same way?

There are a few touch screen phones, I believe one of the blackberry has a touch screen (but it's probably not any cheaper). I would just go to the local phone place and look around. The Google phone is supposed to be available later this year. I think there are some windows based touch screen phones that are cheaper.

BTW: I can do a 3-way bundle with ATT for 55.00/mo. and 99.95 for the iphone. The only thing i am concerned about is the battery which can not be replaced.How long do they last?

That $99 iPhone . . . 8GB 3G? Are they still selling the refurbished 16 and 32GB 3GS for $50 and $150 online? The refurbs are excellent, like new.

I see the prices went back up

I bought two 16GB 3GS for $50 each on "Black Friday" and AT&T brought back the pricing the day after Christmas as well.

My company got a free trial Blackberry. I was stupid enough to accept that trial. Didn't like it and returned it to the store as they said. Later on, I got a charge on my land line phone bill. They said I had to talk to ATT Wireless. ATT wireless said I had to talk to ATT land line. Finally they said it was because the phone was never deactivated by the store. Got that monkey off my back after 100 minutes of conversation.

NFW would I ever get an ATT product. In fact, as soon as the contract expires, my company will be off the ATT system for good.

Oh, one more thing. During this trial, I had my USCC phone with me and went down to the folks basement. I could dial out on it. Tried the ATT phone and it had no signal.

With normal use the iphone battery lasts a full day, but you definitely need to charge it everyday. The alternative to having a replacement battery are the external battery packs that extend the charge. If you use it a lot and are away from your charger/computer, consider an external battery. There are several brands available:

If you are concerned with the lifetime of the battery, I have not heard anything negative, I've had one iphone for about 18 months and it still holds a good charge.

The biggest downside of the iphone is ATT. You need to determine is the coverage in your area is OK. Where I live, ATT is fine; and it is adequate most places I travel. Occasionally I find a spot with bad coverage (compared to Verizon), but I can live with ATT.
