Seriously, moon is right ... it's an awful tragedy. It will be a long time before than can even pick up all the pieces, let alone rebuild. Makes you realize how little power (none) we have over the earth.

I won an insensitivity award this morning for sitting mostly speechless, watching the news reports from Haiti then blurting out "Ohhhhh no, poor Mercedes!" :o

Of course I'm sad for the people too. I know lots of help is on the way though.

We need to clean up our own back yard first.Most of these countries will stay poor with corrupt officals.And we are headed that direction,greed has consumed C.E.O.s

Don't get me wrong moon161 - I wasn't trying to down play the tragedy at all. That car being destroyed means absolutely nothing in a situation like that.

Now they've changed the picture.

I've been there before, and more than once. I horrified people in high school with a marshmallow remark about a burning monk.

Give me a break, I was being sarcastic, mocking the idea that anyone actually would consider getting parts off of it. I also said it was a profound tragedy and very sobering. Obviously I'm not actually concerned with the cars involved, and I'm guessing no one else here is, either. And I'd say if that quake hit an area with building codes, it would have still been quite deadly. It won't be easy for a country with so few resources to rebuild. They lost a lot of infrastructure, not to mention a lot of lives.

I bet it still runs!
