Too much politics - I'm out....

I can handle a few threads about politics, but this forum seems to have become dominated by extremists who prefer political trolling to discussing Mercedes related topics.

I fail to understand how people can assume someone would come to a Mercedes forum with a desire to read about the latest right wing/left wing political crap that is put out there. There are a million other places devoted explicitly for posting your opinion about your politics. There are, however, relatively few places where you can get generally good advice about your car.

I'm done here.

I'm with ya man...not gonna call it quits but the politics on this section have dominated nearly every thread. I don't mind a bit of political chatter back and forth but for some reason it has exponentially increased over the past month or two. Frankly I'm tired of it, that's why I don't post much in OD anymore.

que sera, sera.

BTW, based on the stats maintained by the forum, this is the first thread you've ever started in "Open Discussion."

Why is that?

Who is forcing these poor souls to read all these obvious and clearly political postings in the open discussuion forum against their will? Who ever it is stop it please!

"Open Discussion Forum - Discuss anything you want to here"

is one section of the forum, which has nineteen other forum sections devoted to every possible facet of Mercedes interest!

It's called signal to noise. The most valuable forums have more signal. It's why I don't use bf.c, and I rarely come here.

Have fun spouting off... I'm with the OP.

There are different sections of this forum. So say you want to find out how to do brakes on a car, you could go to the Tech section. Or if you were curious about diesels, you could go to the diesel section. Try looking at THIS part of the forum if you are honestly interested in just fixing the cars without any other discussion.

You remind me of the kid that threatens suicide to get attention, aka Attention Whores. To those AWs, I say "Hardware stores sell ropes. Go hang yourself.".

Wow, 17 posts in two years, of which the first 14 where to hawk something you where trying to sell, hard to believe no one noticed your absence! Thanks for your contributions!

I've been here since June 2000 (PaulC v1.0 6/2000 - 9/2006) and the OD has definitely seen its ups and downs. I think it's on a bit of a downswing at the moment, with the intelligent, positive energy and sense of camaraderie of the past currently being smothered to death by a few right-wing, knuckle-dragging Cro-Magnon old farts who can't handle a darkie being in the White House, but I could be wrong...

That's not fair, I don't think they're all old.

I avoid them completely. If I want an invigorating political discussion i'll go to slashdot.org .

There are a lot of fun little tidbits here and there in this forum Don't bail on it, just walk around the land mines.
