If you like old Citroens...

Then check out the new series Caprica the prequal to Battlestar Galactica. In the Pilot for Caprica I noticed that they did a very good job of hiding the vehicles. But now that they really need to show the day to day lives of Capricas citizens I can only assume that they wanted cars that few Americans have rarely ever scene. Kind of ironic that the choose to use the 50 year old design of the DS for a futuristic city :D

As an added side bonus, what model Jaguar is this? (I'm HIGHLY impressed with that interior for such an old car)

Caprica has shown a number of DS21 and ID19 cars, the second generation of the Citroen D model. I also saw them in Eureka.

Thanks for doing these. You must have software that can pop individual shots off a tv program. I'd like to know how you do that or 3what the software is, if it's available to amateurs.

I had a chance to buy one of the station wagons but it needed too much work, and I had no large bldg in which to store all my stuff. That may change very shortly.

Well....there's a bit of a story to that. My stupid brother took over the TV the one night that I actually had something to watch so I had to....acquire this episode from online (The way I see it it's no different then using TIVO and apparently so did 15,000 other people) From there is was just Ctrl+I in windows media player.

It's a Jaguar Mark II From the 1960's (mark 2). I owned one a few years back; beautiful car inside and out,... typical best of the British smells, leather, wool and varnished wood with a little hot grease.
I had the 3.8S (high compression 10:1) with a manual whiny 4 speed and of course the always lovable Lucas electrics.

How was the ride quality and handling?

These 4door MarkII were used for racing; very quick and fast, with revolutionary disc brakes all around they stopped well. A firm jaguar ride and with wide tires it handled very well. I was lucky I had a manual transmission with typical whiny truck sound. If you like a burled wood dash full of gauges and rocker switches for everything and a push button starter.....[oops I'm drooling]. Just get on youtube and type in jaguar mark 2 and you can ride along & hear them run & look under the bonnet at that beautiful engine.

they will change the floor of your garage forever - no glue know to man will make them stop leaking -- and the reason the british like warm beer is they own a Lucas refrig - jz

Oh THIS is the Jag that had the disc brakes all round? I didn't realize this was the model (It was mentioned because the 300SL still had rear drums)

That looks like a Nissan S-Cargo (a japanese mini commercial van from the late 80s / early 90s).

I've seen a couple of them around here; you can import almost anything you want over 15 years old, so people are shipping quite a few unusual cars over from Japan. The 4WD diesel micro-vans are fairly common imports; the Nissan Figaro is a popular retro-looking model (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Figaro).

Yeah I've noticed that people have started to bring over early Land Rover 110s and 90s already. As for the Nissan S-Cargo this is definitely a prime example of a car you couldn't pay me to drive....

I really wanted to buy one in Seattle in the late 70s - it was a '62 I think, had been a consular car in Singapore or somewhere - had right hand drive and the old style, big white letters British plates still on. They wanted $5,000 and I just couldn't quite do it. I've still not driven right hand drive anywhere - probably is a pain here.

I love those old DSs. Some neighbors of my girlfriend's parents have a couple (a sedan and a dilapidated wagon) and I regularly see a nice sedan driving near the university....oh, and I saw another wagon driving around just this last week too. Yep, great cars.
And, while we're on the subject, let's not forget the DS wagon in National Lampoon's European vacation. It's a nice color too.
