Sen Shelby uses blanket hold

Sounds like a money grab to me but perhaps someone else here has some other info.

The government of the United States, thanks to Boss Limbaugh's directive, has essentially failed at this point. The GOP has seen to it. The filibuster, which is not in the US Constitution, is the gimmick by which the special interests have been able to control this country for two centuries, it is the rig in our rigged system, where democracy rarely prevails, and the GOP has refined using it into a fine art. America is now nothing more than another country controlled by a powerful minority. Our stock market reflects it, our job market reflects it, our new political system of Corporate Personhood reflects it, and everyday it gets worse. We have no real government at this point. The Republicans are literally pushing this nation to the point of collapse. Welcome to Government Shutdown, Chapter 2.

After checking, it seems that even the filibuster process has been watered down. Since some rule changes to Senate Rule 22 back in the 70's . . . they don't have to stand up and talk their heads off anymore, reading Shakespeare or grandmas recipe for pound cake into the record. I am sorely disappointed in this loss of tradition.

It has become the method by which Senators escape responsibility for paying off their "campaign contribution" bribes. I am at the point where I think we need to go the route of the British and abolish this House of Lords. It is impossible to think that the Founders wanted a form of government where a minority of Senators could block the majority. Why even bother to have a Senate? It makes elections a waste of time. This is not democracy as they intended.

What I think is sad is that our Military will have to use equipment provided to them under this system and not the best equipment for the job.

What ever happend to the Military testing products and finding out what works best?

The Republicans might be totally in the right here, but if they claim to be the party of 'Real Americans' then they should start thinking of the needs of real Americans and not just about how can they twhart the Military procurement process.

What the Republicans are doing here may be legal, but it is unethical, and our troops will be paying for their actions for the next twenty years.

I thought I spelled it out clearly enough. Planet of the Apes. Senate of the Apes.

I guess you would have a hard time seeing all those stubborn Rr senators as apes. Buncha thick headed power brokers, IMHO. Most of the dems too for that matter but the Rrs are undisputed champions.

Senate and planet do not rhyme. Planet and Janet rhyme.
The senator is tired of waiting for things to be done, and has stopped other things from being done until this is done. Of course what needs to be done will favor the folks in his district- would you have him do something else? How do you propose to have him see that it is in his better interest to NOT have things that favor the voters in his district happen?
