I'll give Olympic curlers this much

I was watching Olympic curling t'other night, on the edge of my seat, and it struck me that I'd never seen the broom guys hit a stone with their broom, even with all that furious sweeping, and them balancing on some kind of special shoes on ice. And then when they get down to the target area, I kept thinking 'that dude's not looking, he's going to trip over that other stone' and thus move it. But no, if I want wrecks, I guess I'll have to watch NASCAR. Those curling guys can navigate on that ice.

Now if you'll excuse me, there's another match coming on soon and I need to pop some popcorn.

I haven't watched the sport but this reminded me of a cool episode of one of my favorite shows.

We have a strong curlling tradition here. In fact, one of the Olympian curlers works with my wife. Well, not with, but in the same vicinity. OK, zipcode.

But two of my friends are in the Olys. For real.

I bet if I ever tried it, I'd really like it. In the meantime, I have fun playing shuffleboard in the bars around town...

Doesn't it have something to do with drinking beer?

It looks like a sort of team version of billiards. I can imagine getting into it if you lived in the frozen north.

OK, have you ever seen one of the broomers hit a stone? Seems like an accident waiting to happen. Those guys go at it. A bit wild.
