Need to borrow a Local SoCaler's newer Mac!
I need to upgrade the system software on my Power Book G4...but the newer install disc requires a dual-layer DVD drive...which my computer does NOT have.
So I am asking for someone to help me out by letting me use their newer mac for an hour, so I can upgrade my system finally!! Compensation can be discussed later on. Thanks!

Can't the local "Genius Bar" help you?
Why not just buy an external USB DVD drive? Macs are so limited...

Can't boot from an external drive... Only another computer that has the DVD drive installed internally, used as a Firewire boot drive.
Most of these functions are part of the logic board...all macs have the same proprietary logic board configuration, which makes all of this interfacing operate smoothly between Macs! *EVERY TIME* There are so many different manufacturers of PC logic boards that this type of thing isn't really possible. At least that is my understanding of the situation. I really don't want this to turn into a Mac vs. PC debate, because that is so stupid and never goes anywhere...I just need some help.
