Bought an 87 Ramcharger

I turned in my Jetta this month and just knew I was in immediate and dire need of a beater 4x4. I found this RC for $400. Everything works except AC, and major rust of course.

I'm removing all trim and badges this weekend and starting to sand, cut or knock off all the rust. eventually it will be olive green with black bumpers and badges. Pretty original, huh? what can I say, it should be ready for the next turkey season.

Drives great, really surprising, and also has a very tight turning radius.

Those are great trucks.

A co-worker of mine at a previous job had a Ramcharger with the 318, and got over 400,000 miles on it with virtually no trouble.

If someone parked that truck in my yard, I'd have it towed.

That's a perfect candidate for a 6BT conversion.

I had an '84 dually (E350?) with a Reading body. Got it a s a work truck for under $600 and WORKED it for two years. It had the 360/4bbl which was an amazing engine. They do like to rust though...

I loved driving that thing and regret giving her up sometimes...

Nice truck, I'd turn it into a plow truck and make it earn its living!

It has a 360 with a 4 bbl Holley. It originally came with a 318, but the seller put in a rebuilt, bored and cammed 360 according to him. I can verify it is a 360, but who knows about the bore/cam. Idle I suppose is a little staggered, so maybe.

I start removing trim and sanding this weekend. Replaced the rear hatch struts so the rear door works as it should-no more shower curtain. Start and runs very nicely, but needs new fron universal joints. Seller gave me the parts with the truck. The auxilliary lights are aircraft landing lights and are very bright.

The only cooler ramcharger is the very early one that has the removable top. beach or spring day cruiser convertible then!

That, is an epic truck. Hell of a good find for $400.00 nowadays. You're going to have a blast with that beast.

Not bad. A 4BT would be better, they weigh just a bit less than the 6BT, it'd have some bad traction issues and bad trail manners with that short wheelbase and that much weight over the front axle.

Can't beat the price. Hopefully it isn't a rust bucket like my old Suburban.
