UK: Tanker Truck Vs Renault Clio

Caught this on MSN today.
A UK tanker truck clips a car and pushes it down the highway sideways at around 60mph not knowing it was there.

Driver walked away. That says something for Renault. I imagine she'd have to change her underwear after that experience. From what I saw on the news, the tires were still inflated on the car. I can only assume that the wet road was slick enough to keep the tires sliding. If a tire had popped an a rim caught an expansion joint, things would have gotten exciting in a hurry. I wonder how she managed to get into that position without being observed?

Doubtful. The weight difference is probably only 1500 pounds or so. Not much when you are driving a bigrig!

I think he might have noticed this.

Small cars always lose in accidents.

But seriously I have ridden shot gun in enough big trucks and dump trucks to know how dumb people are. They have zero concept of what a 70k pound dump truck will do to their Explorer....think fat guy stepping on a soda can. I love how they just cut right out in front of you.

The worst trucks to cut off are cement trucks, they have bad brakes. You will die.

Actually. That car is what I think we’d all refer to as a hatchback. It has no boot.
A boot would actually access into what you’d call a trunk, not the passenger compartment.
Now, if you’re speaking of what you’d call the hood. That’s actually the bonnet.

Please note, that I’m just kidding you guys with all this.

The “Lorry” issue actually a hot spot that goes back to the first five or so years I was living here in Texas. Big trucks (big-rigs, 18-wheelers, semi-tractor trailers, the list goes on as to the names you refer to them with…). I always called them a lorry. Sure, we’ve got all sorts of different names for different things. But, “lorry” is the one I got into trouble with far and away more than any other.
Seems the only time I spoke the word lorry, is when I had one driving right on my rear bumper. I’d say something to the effect of: “I’ve a lorry on me/my bum.” (sure, sometimes it was “ass” or “butt”, but you get the picture.)
Well, that brought forth a mass of lesbian related comments as everyone seemed to jokingly turn “lorry” into the girls name “Lori” and carry on with snide harassment.

So, for a time, I did my best to check myself before speaking and to go with “truck” as to stifle the mass of Aklim minded types you’ve got here.

Then one day, I decided that was just silly. So, just as silly, I decided to stick with lorry and fight back doing my part to sarcastically point out and correct all of those here who don’t know that lorry is actually the name of the damned things. (worked hard not to use “bloody things” there)
Hence post #6.

Ara T – I’ve never really used zed that much. I go with zee.
I’ve a 13 year old daughter born and raised here in Texas (Her accent is by far more Texas than English.), who goes with haich over your aich pronunciation for the letter H though.
She’s taken quite the flack for that one over the years.
Especially in school. She loves to stand her ground and tell the teachers they’re wrong.
Silly kid.

An articulated lorry...

Anyway, I can't imagine that the driver didn't see the car. I just don't buy it. It looks to me like someone got mad when they were cut off and clipped and they wanted to drive the point home... Literally.
