$1,500 seems to me a reasonable number for the Reserve.

It's charm is in it's stark original unrestored condition. It's just cute as a bug!

I would think it'll bring some nice dollars.

The other one sold for $5000. It looks like it was shilled a bit, but someone swooped in at the last second and bought it. My guess is its legitimate.

That's encouraging...

I guess the losing bidders are moving on to this one... The reserve is met on my listing.

Wow! I would not ever have guessed. Its a fairly ratty looking but admittedly an honest looking car. The rust would have stopped me.

Low mileage on both of them. I'll bet the winner on that one had a huge amount on eSnipe or some such thing - just wanted it no matter what. eSnipe kicks butt.

The thing is cherry.

Yours is not bad. I predict $3500.

No way, I'm going to guess $2000.

The overwhelming presence of rust and engine compartment condition will penalize the car. Some unfamiliar with rust will overlook that aspect. It's still cute as a bug - and unmolested otherwise. Because of the scarcity of this model, and being a true survivor, it may yield a big return.

The two high bidders right now are Saab nuts. One guy has pages upon pages of Saab parts purchased in the last 90 days. The current high bidder, with only 2 feedback, bought another vintage Saab on ebay.

Who knows, your poor little darlin' might end up as parts for more cherried out rigs. Parts for those have to be pretty rare. You're not going to find one at a boneyard, no how. I did see a BMW 2002 at a local Pick 'n Pull a while back, heavily picked over.

But I haven't seen a 96 at one for decades.

There's a resurgence brewing for this model........

Saab-Spyker chief wants new retro Saab 92

Saab Automobile's new chairperson, Victor Muller, wants the Swedish firm to prioritize the development of a new version of the classic Saab 92 in a retro design mirroring similar moves by Fiat, with its 500, and the Volkswagen Beetle.

The trip down memory lane could attract new devotees to the brand, Muller claimed at a car show in New York in an interview with the US website motortrend.com.

The new Saab 92, which according to Muller will probably be given the name Saab 9-2, is not currently part of the firm's business model. Muller confirmed that the firm has to start earning money before the project could become a reality, but he added that it is something of a personal dream for him.

"The Saab 92 is definitely the missing link in the portfolio of Saab cars. And this is clearly what we want to bring to the market, really soon," Muller told the website.

The Saab 92 was the firm's first car model and was launched in 1947. The aerodynamic car, with an engine that was considered by some to sound like a coffee percolator, went into mass production in 1949.

All early Saab 92's were painted racing green, which according to rumour was because the firm had a surplus of green paint from wartime production of aircraft.

The last Saab 92, of a total of 20,128 vehicles, was manufactured in early 1957.

I believe its drag coeffecient is in the low twenties. The 92 was clearly designed by airplane designers!

I'll be damned. I hope they do a better job than was done with the Beetle. Halfway faithful to the original and it might sell well. Don't think they're going to have a 2 stroke, somehow.

Trivia dept: I was looking at the pictures of the tan 96 just now and I remembered another PITA with this car - the tail light lenses stick out like sort thumbs waiting to get smashed. I think I lost 3 of them to random bumps out in the cruel world. And they weren't cheap.
