I bet those worthless pirates would try and attack an Iowa class battleship

Kuan 04-01-2010 11:22 AM

Maybe they thought it was going to be a great April Fool's joke.

This is a foreshadowing of what will happen when we launch into space. No peaceful spaceship will be able to travel anywhere without a starship escort.

Maybe somebody could get them all together to take out a Nimitz class carrier group. Why, I'll bet that if the lot of them ganged up, they could probably do some serious damage to the paint job. Pirate problem solved.

Iowa class battleship fires 16 inch gun.

The tidal wave from the recoil sinks pirates.

16" shell hits mother ship anchored 12 miles away.

Overkill.....taking it to a whole new level :D

BobK 04-01-2010 12:22 PM

I'd pay to watch that, live.

HuskyMan 04-01-2010 12:50 PM

there is something about a Battleship with 16 inch guns that makes
a statement. no more pirates, no more troubles.

a battleship will usually have a spotter based on shore to assist
in target acquisition. when they light up those 16 inchers, all
h*** breaks loose.

Consider the firepower, you can see the sideways wake as they fire in the Picture !!!!

Hatterasguy 04-01-2010 01:36 PM

All I can say is to bad they didn't kill them.

OTOH this is great, if they attack navel ships it makes the Navy's job a lot simpler.:D

To bad we don't have any battleships left, parking one offshore to rain steel down on them would be most affective.

Now thats FIREPOWER!

I guess I'm a cruel SOB. I'd like to see them rain WP rounds on the mothership of those pirates.
Iowa class are fantastic. With a spotter, they can achive 1 minute of accuracy at 20 miles range. Very scary, something you can't even see over the horizon is lobbing exploding garbage cans right on your head.

LUVMBDiesels 04-01-2010 02:45 PM

We could TOW the USS NJ out there if we wanted to...

I bet the pirate thought he was "Bad Billy" Strannix :D

cmac2012 04-01-2010 02:49 PM

I liked the dry, to the point nature of this paragraph:

It was not the first attack against a Navy ship, but it underscored the fact that most pirates aren't terribly sophisticated, said Roger Middleton, a piracy expert at the British think tank Chatham House.

:D

PPV and betting on how long before the pirates get eaten by sharks or drown.

Kuan 04-01-2010 04:52 PM

Can we now say dumb as a pirate?
