New Health care bill and landlords...

Heard a rumor tonight at a get togther that the new Healthcare bill may have 'some' effect on rentals owners... anyone have anymore information on that?!

Is there a summary of the heathcare bill that a 'mere mortal' could read in a couple of hours without the need to digest 2000+ pages of text?!

James

When I searched using the term "rental" I found this

Quote:
‘‘(iii) EXCEPTION FOR BANK- RUPTCY.—If a supplier of oxygen to an in- dividual is declared bankrupt and its assets are liquidated and at the time of such dec- laration and liquidation more than 24 months of rental payments have been made, the individual may begin under this subparagraph a new 36-month rental pe- riod with another supplier of oxygen.’’.
Quote:
Rental and purchase of power-driven wheelchairs.
and this

Quote:
Pg. 268 RENTAL AND PURCHASE OF POWER-DRIVEN
WHEELCHAIRS.
I even tried typing in "lease" and I got 9 hits. 5 of those were catching the "lease" name in release and the rest were relating to drugs, equipment loaning, and what is a nursing home.

There were 0 returned results for "landlord"

So no there is nothing in the bill relating to land lords.

Oh please it's only 1000 pages

Maybe the effect will be that their tenants will live longer, and since they won't be bankrupt from medical bills they will be able to pay their rent!

Google is your friend.
For instance: "Health care reform act landlord & tenant"
gets links like this:

http://www.trexglobal.com/property-management/property-management/health-care-reform-bill-guide-for-landlords-property-managers-and-property-management-companies

Doesn't look like too much difference from what the rest of the country faces.

Yeah, I did... here is the thread to follow... looks like a mess:

http://bbs2.mrlandlord.com/display.php?id=13837560

My wife and I are nowhere near 250K (or even the half way point), but sounds like we're all going to experience new taxes soon as a result of this bill....

Doesn't look like it will hit landlords anymore than it hits other people with income over $250k.
I'd be happier of the health care bill had a public option but it's probably better than nothing for lots of people.

It does say that the bill is ameding the tax code so it is safe to assume that.

Either way our tax code sucks, lumping people who make 250,000+ into one category is just stupid.

When I'm on a real computer I'll dig a little deeper in the bill Mercfan. Sorry I missed it

I'm sure you'll find a report that landlords are too be made slaves of the Fascist Socialist Communist Democrat Party of America, and forced to turn their rents over to Obama's One World Government dictatorship. We report, you decide.

Looks like it... unfortunately it means that businesses will pass on this increase to consumers (you and me) no matter what tax bracket we fit...

What was the 'public option' anyway... I knew if was omitted but I missed the definition....

"Small Employer" defined.

The IRS is starting to dribble out info on the small employer definition defining what businesses will be eligible for the credits. This is the law of the land now fellas.

This came out Friday.
http://www.irs.ustreas.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=220809,00.html

3 simple steps:
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-utl/3_simple_steps.pdf

I don't write the music. I just sing the song.

edit:
I haven't looked into it, but my first question about the credit is: Is it refundable (i.e cash) or is it only available to reduce current taxes (as many credits are) . Huge difference for the average small business owner.
