60MPH question

So, I figure the only stupid question is a question not asked. We all know that 60MPH is "Mile a minute" but, I am wondering how the timing changes at lets say, 65, on up, whats the mile per minute change for every +1 miles an hour?

there isn't much of a change in between the increments you asked for.

Nonetheless it's Quite helpful, I've always wondered

I prefer DISTANCE = RATE X TIME ....much easier to remember. :P

When I was younger I used to do these kind of calculations in my head as I was driving on the freeway and passing mile markers...man I'm a nerd.

I still do this. It really does prove that speeding is pointless UNLESS you have a very long trip to go on. Then the difference between 60 mph and 70 mph will begin to add up. The only trick then is maintaining the same average speed.

I'll have to take a math major around with me now, thanks.

Me too

Before I had a GPS, I did the TSD calculations in my head during long trips to make sure I maintained a decent average speed... :smart:

My math scores sucked too. I never broke 500 on the SATs. However I proudly had a 690 in reading. Odd but oh well.
