my first porsche

i think this topic might not be welcomed here.

but what the hell, i own enough benzes to have earned the opportunity to ask a porsche question.

so, i have found a 2008 porsche cayenne turbo. low miles. almost fully loaded. except for one thing. no cd changer.

everything else other than the kitchen sink. but no cd changer.

for the vehicle as an option, porsche charges $650.

for a retrofit, the dealership wants $2500.

do you think i get it accurately that one could buy a cd changer, install it, and tie it into the porsche control console?

The correct Porsche CD Changer P/N is "CDC4". They are on eBay for 300-400. You will need the correct bracket for a Cayenne.

I would bet you my next Mercedes-Benz - a 2008 E320 Bluetec with a CD changer you could. Aftermarket stuff like that is no problem for true craftsmen in the electronics for cars industry - just don't fall victim to a butcher putting it in.

I have a real Porsche for sale... a 2000 Carrera 4. Don't need a CD changer. Your smile would be too wide to be worrying about the music!
Let me know if you're interested...

At first I was mad at Porsche for making an SUV type vehicle. Let's say they've grown on me since then . johnm is right, it should be no big deal. it. I'm driving a '99 Boxster tomorrow, but not to replace the Benz. Sadly, the Miata would go .

You can likely get a good answer at the Pelican Parts website. They sell Porsche parts and have a discussion board there much like this one.

I am sure somebody there has done this and could steer you in the right direction.

You want to go from a simple bullet proof Miata to a well known nightmare? Porsche put that car at a price point attainable to people who had no idea how to properly take care of those cars. Throw in a trouble prone engine, tranny and electronics and you've got a nightmare. Miatas were thrashed too, but at least they could handle it.

Well put Tyler. As far as the desirability of a changer, I just spent $200 to replace mine. I guess some of us are still enjoying the old way lol.
