Yikes!

Yeah, back in the 1980's I worked at Columbia University. We had a main Internet (or DARPANet) node for NYC and the surrounding area. It ran on a 9600 baud modem from CU to Princeton! We also had the connection for Colombia the nation - going to the University of the Andes. It was a Satellite uplink running at 4800 baud -for an entire nation!

Graphics were not available - we used ascii characters. HTTP was not even around yet - we used FTP and GOPHER or VERONICA ;-)

Remember the alt. boards?
like alt.tv.simpsons?

Still we got into flame wars - My buddy and I were in a dispute with a dude in Australia over "Twin Peaks" and "The Simpsons"
in 1990!

This page looks like the mid 1990's I remember building pages similar to this for my company around 1996. No girls or StarWars though, we were professionals

We thought we had it made when we went to a 56k line!

Exactly!

We used VT100 terminals, IBM 3278 terminals, and XT/AT PCs!
All interconnected to our DEC VAX and PDP-11 minicomps and our System 390 at Columbia using 4800 baud modems and a PACX matrix switch!

Prior to that I used 'Ye Olde Key Punch' and 9 track tape at List Maintenance Company - connected to 2 System 370 series MF
