Cool Driving Sunglass Choice

Hey Guys,

I don't know about you, but I drive, rain or shine, night or day, with my shades on.

my question is, am I the only one who does this? Is there a whole colony of people out there that needs some form of eye protection while driving?

And also, what sunglasses are you guys wearing whilst on the open road?

Looking for suggestions, as my better half absolutely hates my M Frames. They 'make you look like an 80's tool'.

Then again, she hated my Thump Pro's too.

Yours Truly,

Carlen

I have Wiley X sunglasses with swappable prescription clear and tinted lenses.
I bought them to use a goggles for my motorcycle but I use them all the time.

I wear only the best.

I’m an aviator. I spend most of my day either flying in, or outside walking around an aircraft. My life revolves around an outdoor (often quite sunny) world.
Eye protection is of the utmost importance.

I have the money to buy the best sunglasses available. And I do just that.

Anything that’s comfortable. Doesn’t make me look like a goofball. Fits my big mellon head. Is UV protective. And, most importantly - cost less than $15.00 from the Academy Sports & Outdoors fishing department is what I buy and wear.

Those are the best.

If I could stand wearing contact lenses, I'd go that route too.

I think I paid $300 for my Wiley X shades, but they came with 2 sets of prescription lenses and the arms can swap between an elastic strap like on ski goggles or regular sunglasses arms. This is also the first pair of sunglasses I've owned that didn't get scratched lenses in the first year of use. I've had these for about 5 years now.

See, I used to wear regular (not insane prices like now) sunglasses...

I work as a beachboy at a country club, and on the 4th of July party a few years ago, there was a microburst, flinging a metal bar into me and my cousin; it smashed my cousin's cheap sunglasses and cut up his face, while my new at the time Oakley Fives didn't suffer as much as a scratch and were whipped off my face.

The week after, A runaway umbrella went flipping into the air from being set improperly, and the arms that come out when opened came right at my face, and my Thumps took the brunt of that, saving me from having to wear an eyepatch for the rest of my life.

The M Frames havent saved me thus far.... It shouldn't be too far from now as I clearly wear my eyewear like a whackjob.

And I know what you mean about contact lenses; it sucks having to pay additional overhead due to bad vision...

I still use my Ray Ban Roy Orbison sunglasses that I bought at a yard sale 20 years ago.

I like Serengetis -- they have a nice neutral tint. So many sunglasses are too dark. They're available fairly cheap on eBay.

Serengeti Drivers, aviator frames, circa 1992. I paid $200 for them, best lenses for all driving conditions. Works out to a pair of cheap $11 sunglasses every year. They still are scratch free but the anodizing is worn down in a few places.

Yep. Serengeti Drivers are the best I've ever had.

I have been looking for the darkest pair of glasses I can find. So far, I am tossed up between Gargoyles and Solar Bat.

I have a pair of aviator type glasses I wear and I just replaced them with a similar pair with updated prescription lenses. Those are my day glasses. I also wear them when it rains or other inclement weather during the day. They are polarized and I have found that they help make the scene quite a bit clearer and more defined. At night I have clear driving glasses.

All my glasses/prescriptions come from Cost Co.

I also own a pair of these wannabe aviator sun glasses for 99 cents. However when I bought them I saw this little heart next to the label. I thought that was a sticker as well.

Obviously it isn't and now I have an awesome pair of party shades! Between myself and my other friends I look like the biggest tool in the shed
