At least according to Harry Reid because of their opposition to the Wall street overhaul.

I thought that democrats supported the concept of "opposition is the HIGHEST form of patriotism". At least that was Hillary Clinton's stance as she opposed the previous (republican) administration.

So is opposition to the current administration only patriotic when its a republiucan administration?, or can we have a show of consistency?

Since Republicans have only offered obstruction since the last election we have yet to see opposition. Right now the Republicans are only trying to jam the works of g'ment until the fall elections. That's somewhat less than Patriotic.

I am unhappy with BOTH sides. BOTH sides have tried to get the filibuster breaking majority, both sides have stalled, both sides allowed lobbyists and special interests to get us in the predicament we are in, BOTH sides are guilty.

The way I see it, WE are the guilty ones. A Republican or Democrat can pull all the shenanigans they want. Sure, you can fool me once. Shame on you. HOWEVER, fool me twice, shame on ME. We voted them in, did we not? We believed all their promises so whose fault is it?

I don't think either side loves their country any more or any less than the other. I'm more inclined to believe they just love their bank accounts and positions of power a little bit more and will say & do whatever it takes to keep their nests feathered..

I think the public is getting wise to the GOP. They sit on the butts and whine, and do nothing except to block anything from getting done, for the benefit of Wall Street and the insurance interests. When are they actually going to take part in governing ?

Blocking anything YOU want from getting done doesn't mean the same as not getting anything done. That is, unless your philosophy is the only way to government.

You do realize there is more than just the healthcare bill that needed to get done or maybe not.

The recent ruling by the Supreme Court bestowing citizen status and constitutional protections on corportations will be easily extended to lobbyists should any attempt by made to limit their access.

The GOP is traditionally a very disciplined party for playing party politics. Their greatest skill is closing ranks and maintaining the party line. The sad thing is that the GOP used to stand for the people, not big business and big finance.

The democratic party, while actually far larger, represents a looser group of varying opinions. A democratic majority in congress simply means a GOP minority, not necessarily a body of DEM people who all agree.

First off, Rep or Dem, they stand for THEMSELVES. Whatever they do is to further themselves. Just like the pizza or the sub shop. They are not there because I am hungry. They are there because they want to make money. So the both parties will toss scraps at us and figure how to pay for it on the surface. With that, they can get our vote and further themselves. By the time the bill comes due, they probably will be long gone. Much like the guy at the restaurant who orders lavishly and asks us all to have a good time. When the waiter comes with the check and wants to close for the night, that guy is noweheres to be found.
