Non mercedes related question
Hi Guys,
My partners Honda Accord has started smoking blue on the first acceleration of the day. After 2 or three minutes running, it is clear and no longer does it. It only does it cold. Any suggestions ? Only smokes under acceleration when first cold. Plugs are clean. No excess oil consumption |
A little to late to your post but probably leaking valve seals. The oil leaks past them into the cylinders overnight or after being shut down for several hours. Then when the motor is cold it burns the oil out of the cylinders and quits smoking after it has done so. For future readers that read this post it happens in all brands of cars when these seals go bad and i cant believe no one had an answer for this one.I thought this was a place to get help but i just joined and this question is about 2 weeks old??????

Its the first I have seen it.
I agree with your answer. |
I missed the original post as well. But I often am not able to check during the week at all, and no-reply threads get shuffled way down the list very quickly.
Yes, valve stem seals should be suspected. The valve guides may be worn as well. |
Agreed, valve seals. You can buy an adapter to apply compressed air to the spark plug hole and keep the valves in place so you can do the job without having to remove the head.

I added some ATF to the oil on one of my cars, it supposidly swells the seals. I added a quart of ATF and no more smoke. So it worked for me.

Valve seals as stated by previous posters. Everytime my cars have had those symptoms, valve seals were the problem.
