Forgive me for questioning; it is not my intention to antagonize.

But where does this post place according to this quote:

Quote:

Great minds discuss ideas
Average minds discuss events
Small minds discuss people
. Eleanor Roosevelt

ps... that guy is slime and gold is a hoax. (at this time)

RichC 05-20-2010 02:42 AM

I would place it with all three ; idea, event, and person.

The concept : or idea, of corrupted media.

The event : conning people out of money.

The person : Glen.

-----------------

The reason for posting like this is to get the attention of all three levels of people we have here on the forum.

Some will think, some will scream, some will grunt.

Yeah the gold and gun people always say that, predicting the end of the world is good for their bottom line.

My Uncle once told my Dad to buy gold, with similar logic to the end being near. My dad told him that if the end is really near Gold is the last thing you want. it makes you a target... what you really want are GUNS!

Buying gold for the reason of the world ending only makes you slightly less crazy the the people who still have their Y2K stock pile ready for the coming 2012 threat.

Hatterasguy 05-20-2010 02:06 PM

I rather have guns, than I can just take whatever gold I want.:D

Gold is only good if it can buy you food and fuel.

Bullets can always be traded for food. With a slight loss of conscience, you can trade them for fuel too.

there are various ideas concerning a doomsday scenario. I was at the grocery store a few weeks ago. the computer system had crashed. the cashier's were unable to check anyone out, even people with cash. there we were, hats in hands, not able to purchase food.

got me to thinking, the entire ATM network might fail or shut down in a matter of hours.....next, what if the the electricity goes out? how many people have back up power generators? go to fill your car with gas, only to find that the gas pumps have a "NO GAS" sign displayed on each pump. (anyone remember the gas wars back in the 70's?????)

I figure the first thing that would happen is people would storm the grocery stores trying to get enough food. the gangs would most likely be the first to lead the charge, followed by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Average. after the food disappears from the grocery store shelves, I figure the looting and robbing would kick into high gear, similar to the Rodney King riots in Los Angeles. the gangs would rob and burn everything. and, just like the LA riots, there won't be enough cops to stop it.

many cops will go home to protect their families, maintain their own food and water supplies, protected by guns, of course. that means the rest of us will be fending for ourselves, as usual.

we've already experienced the South Central LA Riots and Hurricane Katrina, both which qualify as their own doomsday scenarios. the next one may not be restricted to just one region or area.......

with or without gold (or glenn beck), would you really want to live in such a society, in some sort of dark ages environment? i lived through the l.a. riots; we were starting to get cabin fever after a lousy two days. (but we had no gold, i must confess)

Having worked in grocery stores its interesting to realize that if they stop getting delivers they would literaly be out of food in 3-4 days. Thats with normal demand. Throw in a panic situation and they could be out of food in 24-48 hours.

If everything is shut down our society is maybe a week from starving, and all that comes with that.

For me guns are one form of insurance. I hope to never need them, but if you do they are worth their weight in gold.
