Art theft...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37250088/ns/world_news-europe/

Some guy in China or Russia is going to be hanging up some new artwork this weekend.

They deserved it. Inexcusable that their 19million security system was "down" for the last 2 months. They hadn't gotten the replacement parts yet (probably just ordered them). This isn't a toilet. Its an art museum.

I guess I was thinking about it as if you have 2 toilets and one breaks, then by their reasoning, leave one broken and use the second one. It was only a few rooms that were down, but the rest of the system was good, so they took their time to fix it

As CLK_man said, this was most likely an inside job. Museum employee drops a tip about the security flaw to a certain someone and it's done.

Me too.

By the guy(s) that knew that (and in which rooms) the system was down.

Is there any way that I could steal Shelby from you guys? I'm in love.

Yeah I doubt you pawn stuff like that, they probably already had a buyer lined up.

This is a public museum.
That means it's run by civil servants that you can't fire unless you catch them stealing.

There's no accountability or consequences if you screw up.

Take it from me, the US gov't is just as bad.

The only good news: in the US when you get to the "can't fire" status, at least half the time, that means you are dealing with people who are not afraid of their jobs to tell you when things are screwed up, because they can't be fired like in a corporation, where everyone kisses a$$ once they get beyond a certain grade.

I have watched my two bosses do that. One's a GS14 and the other's a GS15, and they tell it like it is. And you can disagree with them, as long as you are not personally insulting and as long as you have some logic to your argument.

The problem is things like the theft: a bunch of security guards with the smarts of a rent-a-cop and "administrators" who can't do anything else.

Speaking of toilets, maybe this will cause the French to "flush their system" a little...

IF it was and the guy was French, he would have given up already...

So...No, it wasn't an inside job.
