Open Water 2: Adrift

Anybody see this movie? It was on one of the cable movie channels last night. I mean, just a movie and all, but holy slippery slope, batman. Trying to claw their way up that smooth hull was painful to watch. I kept thinking they should have gone under with the strongest woman, one guy on each of her feet, and then swum upward as fast as they could, with her flexing up with her knees as they surfaced while the two guys shoved her up as hard as they could, the third guy adding extra push above water.

But oh well, the drama depended on it progressing as it did. THAT'S a mistake that no one ever wants to make, and who knows, this movie might have reminded a few people of that.

the first movie sucked horribly... I'm sure the sequel is just as bad.

I remember the story in the news papers that the first story was based on.

I have not seen either one, but I can attest to the endless supply of stupidity of folks in boats and folks in the water.

I didn't see the first one, from what I read of it, does seem like it would be a dreary movie. This one had more going on. Really a pretty empty affair in terms of plot but for some reason, it caught my attention in a sort of modern horror way.

Much more room for drama and intrigue on the second one. One reason I was fascinated by it is the way it involves a very dumb mistake. I hate to think of some of the really dumb mistakes I've made over the years. Sometimes in my work - building, remodeling, maintenance - it occurs to me near the end that I could have done one thing differently and had a better outcome and for less time. Sometimes drastically so. Hopefully one learns from that. But there are other mistakes that are just painfully dumb and inexcusable.

Normal horror movies don't interest me much - demented slashers, mass murders and the like. This one involves simple ass stupidity and a high price paid for it.
