Okay, wtf is going on in TXDOT????
Okay, so when I originally wanted to go to Texas it was still the old plate design, which I was so excited about getting, then what do they do? Change it, to some ugly looking plate. Well I thought to myself, I would just deal with it, right? Well at work I had to card someone because they were buying Tobacco and he pulls out a Texas license, but it looks just as lame as the new license plate, a wave of disappointment hit me as I knew this is what I was going to get once I move over there, I got only a quick look at it when he showed it to me, and from what I could tell, "Texas" was written in what looked like hand written whipsy letters with a background that looked like orange ice cream melted on it and the capitol building to the right.
Why are they changing everything? And why are they changing it to really lame looking crap? It's TEXAS! I was expecting it would be something tuff, bold and awesome... I'm so bummed that they change the license plate and license to lame looking ones right before I get there.. :( I guess this is just a rant, but it just bums me out :( What do you Texans think of the new license? I thought the old one was just fine! Old one: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3147/...26e29f221d.jpg -sigh- new one :( http://agavedesign.com/blog/wp-conte...rslicense1.jpg |
Looks like all good graphic designers left that state.

and your staying in Calif because of the looks of a drivers license ???
I had nooo idea what my new license would look like when I moved, I was just exceedingly ecstatic to no longer be in Calif. |

I can't begin to tell you how happy i'll be once I hit Texas. :D  |

The new ones are a flimsy piece of crap with a decal. One hit with a misplaced trailer hitch and back to the DMV you go. Whatever happened to good old American prison labor ???? |
I'm kind of lost. What did you want on the driver's license?
Skull, cross bones, death, explosions? It's just a license. It's not like you're whipping it out every day and saying, "Yeah that's right. I'm from Texas!" And if you are, well I don't know what to think. Texas isn't any more important then any other state in the continental US. I'd say the cooler licenses would be Hawaii, Alaska, American Samoa, and the like. There are lamer things DMVs have done. In New York they decided to remake their plates and charge car owners for the new ones. Clever way to make some cash. At least in PA we only have one plate and it's the yellow, blue, and white one leaving me with a front where I can put a Euro plate on! |
Thanks for bringing the current Texas license plate to my attention.
After seeing it, I don't feel quite so bad about having MYFLORIDA.COM plastered on the standard Florida plate. |

If they were getting that plate today, then they would have the option of having "IN GOD WE TRUST" instead of "SUNSHINE STATE". |

Jeez, get over it, it's a license not art. |

Don't worry about it holster carry a 1911 or S&W 627 and no one will bother you about it.:D

They don't look too bad to me-
http://www.urbangrounds.com/images/License_Plates.jpg Back when I was living in Maine we went from the plain black and white plates to the "lobster" aka squashed bug under glass. That was one damn ugly plate, and as far as I know the only one any state has given the OK to repaint. |

I never said Texas was more important but when I need to show my license or ID I want to be proud of what it looks like and what it represents and this new license just doesn't cut it for me. I actually almost got a Puerto Rican license while I was staying in Puerto Rico back in 2006, but I needed my birth certificate that I didn't bring with me :( |
