Yee Ha! Finally I found a place!

The guy who sold me my 380SL came back from Denver and called me to say he found a building for me 5 minutes from his house, which is about an hour from mine. I scoped it out:

150 x 100 lot in a crime-free residential area in a small town beyond the 'burbs and into the sticks.

Building: 72' x 30' on 6" thick concrete pad with main door 20' x 9', three windows 2'x4' two on one side, one on the other.

Enough to stash 15 cars or fewer cars and some parts.

Facilities:
- 200 amp service with 110 and 240V single phase
- 35 gal drum for oil heater (inside- have not tested)
- supposedly water and sewer - am going in tomorrow/next day to check it out

A couple of issues:

- I cannot start a business here because it is on residentially zoned property. That's ok for now.

- Right now it appears that there are two antique cars and a boat inside the garage. I think they are there illegally. One may belong to the neighbor, don't know about the other. Looks like a 38 Chevy through the window.

- Because the former, now dead, owner wangled the building of this huge garage on a lot separated from his house and actually got the city to sign off on it, the lot can be used for residential activity like storage, but not for any manufacturing or business.

That's ok. All cars not being used will be stored there, and I may come up on weekends to wrench. In the meantime, I will beef up security on windows slightly by adding thick wooden hinged shutters on the inside (to make sure that hail doesn't break the glass when I'm gone).

As I work on the other cars, I'll cut expenses by reducing storage costs elsewhere. One by one, most will be sold.

Then I can have a picnic on the grounds too. Maybe a GTG.

Might have to bring out some porta-potties or pay toilets, lol

Might be a good place for a GTG.

Oh, forgot to tell the price: $ 28,900.

It will be mine by Friday, or soon after before anyone else spots it.

Can I count on that? I'll work a deal with the cops and we'll split the fines for indecent exposure as you pee in the bushes of the convent next door

Closing is set for JUNE 18 or sooner, once the probate papers are signed.

Plus the estate has agreed to pay this year's property taxes, all $ 201.00 of them.

Its not in Muskegon is it? Real estate there is so cheap, but for good reason (horrid area/crime).....I have a coworker that just bought a 2 story house for like 24,000..... I live in GR though, homes cost about 4x that much here(at least), probably because it is not a septic swamp, and it is a nice place to live.

I called the executor, who is the son-in-law, giving everything listed as property to his sister in the will. He's just managing the process. He gets the probate papers Thursday, lists with the realtor and I get the first crack and put down the money.

In another week, when he gets in, we close!

I have been receiving suggestions from my Armenian friends to turn it into a tax dodge like a church, since it's in a residential neighborhood and can be nothing else.

New Name contest: So far we have

-- Church of St Rudolf of the Diesel

-- Non Denominational Chapel of the Mechanics

-- Temple of the Three-Pointed Star

-- St. Adiabatica's Church of the Turbo

I vote for temple of the three pointed star, we can all pray to the the star on the alter of diesel oil.

Sounds nice, for $30k around here I can buy a postage stamp of ground.
