What is " Blank Internet"?

My wife's computer had picked up some sort of a bug. Sometimes the computer logs on normally, but often she gets a black screen with what appears to be Dutch writing about "black internet". Oh, there is one bit of English advising her to click to buy a way to stop this junk.
Can't companies that invent and transmit a virus and then offer to sell "protection" be prosecuted or, better yet hung by their males parts ( assuming they are male) until they die?
Anyone have any info on "Black Internet" and how to erase it permanently from her computer, if not the world?

I suggest that you throw your lovely wife's computer in the garbage. And buy her a user friendly Mac.

If you can find them and get someone in their country to prosecute, sure. Good luck with that.

Sorry, no. I wish I did. Sometimes, reinstalling the OS is the best solution.

The constant idiotic postings like this tell me the beer has proven it's value.

I proved the iPhone hack on a friend, had all the info off her phone in 2 minutes.
She never knew I had the phone.

Then I hacked her iPad, whoops. I gave her the wireless key to my network, she was showing it off to some folks we had over.
I locked it up, she restarted it, I locked it up.

The laughing finaling told her I had cracked it, I never even touched it all, wireless.
Ok I couldn't do much except lock it up. But I was about to get some info off of it too.

I decided to sit back and have a beer or two.

These are based on an OS that Apple wrote, not one they just put the liptsick on.

The world is tough. Your wife's PC might be a bit easier. Start by running Malwarebytes and AVG, the free editions of both. See if that gets it. It depends on your tech level.

If not, you could always bring it to a reputable PC shop and have them clean it.

If you have backed up your data, you can always reformat and do a clean install of your OS if you have the disk(s).

For prevention in the future, install AVG free and configure your PC to perform all the essential Windows Updates automatically. Keeping your OS patched is a key part of prevention, as fundamental as running a firewall and antivirus.

Good luck!

malwarebytes first... incredible tool for disinfecting your pc

AVG is also very good, although I feel the current build of Avast is better, as it is constantly active, and catches things as the come in, rather than helping to remove them once they are there.

can't say enough about allowing Windows to update itself, an absolute must

There is absolutely no reason to suffer with mal-bloat-spyware and all the other nasties windoze users are always trying to clear. Micro$oft is irrelevant.

Malware finds 2 infected files every time it is run, and we eliminate them. Starts OK, then reverts to "Black Internet".
I'll try avast.
Thanks

Yup, get the latest version of avast!, load the disk into you're wife's computer and install.
Another one to try is a registry cleanup program, as it does sound similar to that "gator" ad virus that was going around in 2000-2001. I had a hell of a time getting that off my computer, I had to go into the registry and manually delete it.

What is probably happening is that you are not able to fully clear the infection and it reloads on boot-up.

Try booting into Safe Mode, then running it again. This should help clear it. Also after you have run it once in safe mode, run it again. This will help catch any residuals.

Most malware today keeps a portion of itself running in active memory, so you can't fully erase it while operating in the full (normal) mode of Windows. Hence the need to run it under Safe Mode (choose the most basic form of safe mode, with networking only).

I haven't used a Firewall/Antivirus/Spyware/etc for over 1.5 years on my current Windows 7 install. Just installed Malware and Symantec and nothing was found by either. Well Malware found 2 things, but that was because Security Center had been disabled, by me. IMO if your a "smart" internet user and also don't open random attachments from random people you will never pick up this trash.

"The Blank Internet" sounds really boring.

+1

All it takes is a little preventative action...

Microsoft security essentials is another good free AV client. Run them in safe mode.
