Is this a good computer?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+CG5275-AR003+Desktop+with+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B+i5+Processor+%26+24%22+LCD+Monitor+Package/9999131400050018.p?id=pcmprd131400050018&skuId=9999131400050018

My sister is taking my computer, so I'm going to need another one. A larger moniter would be a plus.

I'm pretty much going to be using it to serf online, play some games, word processing and watch movies.

They look like gaming machines so they should have plenty of HP to do what you need.

We have a desktop tower, nothing flash, had it for a few years, it sits below our wide screen (48" I think) LCD TV. We have a cordless mouse & keyboard, a HD TV card in the PC & can watch a show & surf the net at the same time. If we wish to record a TV show, we store it on the HD. I think we can have the PC going on the net, with a TV program going in a small screen in the corner of the wide screen & be recording another TV program at the same time. I am typing this & watching the news at the same time while lounging on the couch. We dont need a DVD player, just use the drive in the PC. The only critical thing was to make sure there was a socket on the TV that takes the monitor lead.

dont buy from bestbuy. Newegg or directly from the company

I've had very good luck with my scratch and dent dell. Paid $700 shipped for a $1300 laptop because it had a scratch on the case.

Buy an iMac.

Hattie! YES! Asus? My mom and I both used that! I mean...we use them on netbooks. Here's the thing...netbooks are tiny laptops that are used for just checking e-mail and simple things...not really for playing games. Here's the kicker, I use mine to go on Steam and play Portal! lol AND IT WORKS! So...I would say it's a good computer! If something that wasn't meant to play games...plays games...then I say if you get an actual PC instead of just a tiny little netbook, it should work very nicely! And of course surfing the web, watching movies, and word processing should go along with it. Good luck! I hope you enjoy!

Maybe explain a bit about what you want and do with a PC.

Are u a power user ?
Just Email, gentle suffin, basic spreadsheat/document stuff ?
Having gaming ?
Watch tv on it ?
....

That's a socket 1156, which means that you can put a Core i7 in there, but only Nehalem and not Westmere or beyond. Going with 1366 allows you to upgrade to Westmere or beyond (6 or more core) in the future, should you desire. 1366 will also require 6 or 12G of memory, since it's triple channel. You can't have 8.

That said, I went with an 1156 Core i7 and 8G of RAM. I don't expect to update the chip in this board -- I'll get a new board if I want a Westmere. The i7 is just a bit slower than that i5, but it has twice the cache at 8M. That will more than make up for the slower clock speed for typical application performance.

Core i7 = overpriced. Get an Opteron 12 core in there for the same price. :D

I can't help being an Intel fan. Core i7 = powerful. You can get one for $200.

I'll use it for work so spreadsheets, etc. But I don't have a TV, my computer is my TV. So I want something with a good video and sound card, so I can download movies and watch them in good quality. I have Logitech surround sound speakers that my current system can't take full advantage of. I want proper surround sound so I can hear the bullets whizing past!:D

I got out of gaming but want to get back into it, so I want something that won't die if I try to run a decent game on it.

Another option is runing the computer with a TV, maybe like a 30in.

I know nothing about computers, I'm totaly clueless. I'd appreciate it if someone could point me to a good tower/screen combo. I'm looking to spend no more than $1,500. My friend speaks highly of Asus.

I have a ThinkPad, and its an awesome machine. Very rugged and durable, plus with the onsite/accidental warranty, it goes everywhere with me.

Could I hook this up to it? 26in is pretty good size its on a desk, I don't want to bug my eyes out.

Justin I want a desktop, I don't need to bring it anywhere.
