When you think about it, even under your scenario, it would be quite easy for most of the middle east to get along without oil, unlike what would happen in the industrialized west, so be careful what you wish.

at the new Mosque planned for near the former site of the World Trade Centers, the Muslims won't be exhibiting much in the way of "tolerance". try eating some pork Bar-B-Que as your wife waltzes by the mosque not wearing a veil.
