w124 belt tensioner shock replacement
got my replacement in today so I can stop the annoying rattle. How is it replaced. Does it involve releasing tension of the belt?

This was invaluable to me while dinking around on the 300D!

what is the best way to lock the water pump pulley so I can loosen it to remove the belt and then remove it to access the bolts for the shock
-edit- got the pulley off without locking the belts, not there is a bracket for the belt tensioner device directly in the way of the lower bolt. Last edited by TheDon; 07-03-2010 at 11:52 AM. |

Well got the job done. The bracket did not have to come off, the lower bolt for the shock is easily accessible. No more annoying vibration

Make sure the PS pump pulley was tight, the mechanic that did mine was not so thoughtful and I overheated the 300D a few months ago.

oh its on there, I held the pulley in place with a long wrench and torque the bolts down to "guten tight" which should be around 21 newton meters.
