World class World cup f*&^ up's.

What do you all think of the officiating and official stance of FIFA against replays? Quite stupid IMHO as several games outcomes have been drastically altered on botched calls.

It's part of the game. Every day at the bar we still talk about the "hand of God."

I think they should allow replays in close calls. A goal is a goal. It's not 1966 anymore.

However, I can see the slippery slope...line calls, corners, etc. If it was limited to goal situations alone, I would support it.

That said, it certainly keeps the game moving without it. Hockey is a good example...it can really stall the game waiting for a replay analysis (which for some reason seems to take FOREVER). That alone can shift the momentum of a game.

Lampard had a rough game...goal that wasn't a goal, hit a goalpost...poor guy...

I'm done with that group. Horrible refs. When they fix the officials, maybe I'll watch again. Hand of God my ***. Hand of bias or incompetent arrogant jerks. Then again seems to be a problem in a lot of sports. The organizations all seem unwilling to do anything about poor officials

No, it's a multi-billion dollar entertainment business that revolves around games. If they wish for us to buy their product, they need to get their act together. It is not unreasonable to expect at least the officials of the games to do their job correctly, just as you expect the Hosts (officials) of TV game shows to do their job correctly. Really, there isn't much difference between these sports and TV game shows. Biggest difference is we generally don't know or care about the wives and girlfriends of the TV game contestants.

The blatant fouls committed by some of the players went completely unpunished - my dad and I were angry watching some of the games and could not believe that such behavior by the players was tolerated by the FIFA refs - I think it's just bad judgment on their part. Players shoving each other out of bounds, holding their arms and all the pushing around (with or without the ball) - that's dirty playing that should definitely be punished and it just seems to be tolerated like it's all good - I think that really detracts from the sport and doesn't wanna make me watch it that much any more (I used to watch it a lot) but these days it's more reminiscent of Rugby and I don't care for it that much.

If we want to placate human error with technology so be it...

...but during the amateur days, most of the players would have certainly endured fouls that went uncalled and poor judgement on called-back goals due to an incorrect "offsides" or "not crossed the line" call...

...I know several bad calls levied on my daughter's soccer team could have made a world of difference if a quick view of the "replay" could reverse the decision(s)...but reality is that stuff happens.
