Oh, to Win the Lottery!

I just had another losing ticket checked I often speculate what I would to if I won the lottery.

1. pay debt
2. I would send my SEL to the classic center for restoration, buying a G55 to drive in the meantime
3. live happily ever after

What would YOU do within the realm of Mercedes?

I read an interesting article about lottery winners a few years ago. After it finished telling a bunch of stories about how big winners had really screwed up their lives it essentially said; figure out what you would want to do if you won the lottery, then go figure out how to do it anyway. Sounded like good advice.

I'd probably get a truck, convert it to an RV to suit my needs, and just drive around for a few years.

I would order the meanest S-Class from the factory and then find some way to kill the three months it would take to produce it.

Perhaps a trip on the QE2 or whatever is sailing these days; taking the long way around.

I'd travel, buy a few cars and guns, but 90%+ of the money would go into real estate. I'd probably buy apartment buildings.

Nothing.......I'm already shopping for the right 2008 E320 Bluetec to replace my bought-new sig. car.

I don't play the Lottery/gamble - I don't need the money, and don't throw money away by buying lottery tickets.

However, if I were to have another $8K TO $10K guaranteed monthly income - I'd likely shop and price either a new Newell or Prevost diesel-motorcoach. Although I own a lot of stocks I could add more to large holdings already.

That would depend entirely on the amount of the winnings. Assuming a few mil, I'd pay off the house and all debt, invest enough of the remainder to give myself an income of about 10K a month (assuming I had enough to invest while leaving a few thou over) and then go have fun acquiring some old Mercedes. I would then persue my dream of attempting to become as good a landscape photographer as some of the greats in the field.

Same here, but I would settle for being competent. About once a year I get temped to go shopping for a 4x5 field camera, then I remember that I barely have time to use my current cameras and my darkroom has been "in progress" for the better part of 20 years. At this rate, I'll get around to it when I'm about 80.

An RVing acquaintance of mine was flat broke until he and his wife won a guaranteed $8,500.00 a month payout on a NE U.S. State Lottery - he discovered how many envious fellow RVers existed on-line in the forums we both frequented. What a surprise! LOL! He basically told 'em off and pulled-the-plug on trying to befriend many of them. He is a very level-headed individual that has not overdid it on the spending end of his wealth.

Another colleague down my way in New Orleans' wife won a pre-tax $3,500,000.00 Louisiana Lottery over 10-years ago - it had a 20 year payout. His first question was to his wife - if she was going to leave him since she bought the lottery ticket. They had two teenage girls together, and they've stayed together. He said they hired a financial-planner, but has been tight-lipped about his newly found wealth the past 15 years or so. He is still the same backstabbing, lying pr#ck he was in business before his instant wealth - just a toned-down version, with better haircuts and better dressed. I think his wife holds him by the b@lls. Have no idea why he kept working - I have never really trusted him enough to try to become more than a very distant acquaintance.

Winning a lottery or becoming wealthy just makes the individual MORE of what he or she was before the wealth, I have observed & experienced. When I was in my early 20s I liked and respected my customer base of regular clients over the U.S. Today, I am not shy or ashamed of telling and showing them how much they have meant to me over the years in doing business with and valuing their friendship for 30 years. Just how I am wired.

I do not think there is an actual difference in how an individual's behavior will change - whether he/she gains the wealth by chance or by earning it.

If an individual lives somewhat frugally before wealth, he/she will accelerate that behavior. For instance, if an individual is lazy - they will continue to be lazy. If they enjoy giving money away to the truly needy, they will intensify that area of their life as well. If they are a jackazz before wealth, they will intensify that behavior. Life is really just that simple is what I've found in my personal trials, tribulations and successes.

If I won a substantial amount of money from the lottery with enough to play around with cars and buy a decent sized home (I'm not the mansion type) with a good garage space, MB wise, I'd surely have to get the 300D and 300SD proper restoration jobs at the Classic Center in Irvine. I'd also have to get myself another piece of older iron to play around with, I really like the W109 280SEL with the inline 6. I'd also consider a new or newish MB. I'd pick something like the CL550, S350 Bluetec CDI, or perhaps a well kept W211 CDI or a new W212 Bluetec

First, I'd head over to my Mother's place and get it cleaned up "nice and purty" for her...since she quit smoking a few Februarys back, she wanted to change the color of the walls and ceilings from a toasty yellow back to just plain yellow...(it really isn't "yellow" but some pastel form of yellow..."women's language" for colors...)...maybe screw all of that and buy the condo below her so she doesn't have to negotiate the stairs anymore...then take the car I just bought her and make it into a new one...maybe a Benz for my mother would be the ticket.

After that, hire a financial wizard/advisor that could afford to work for me...and I would set the tone of his work...if he didn't like what I envision he should be doing, then he doesn't need my money. Once that detail is out of the way, make sure I have an insurance policy that will cover me, set the rest of the money into some "protected" LLC or whatever, then "borrow" from said "firm" to travel to my heart's content. I'd make sure the Boobermint Alphabets get their cut right off the top so no one is trying to "Willy" me later on and hopefully everything will be fine.

I've already got the religion and politics packaged up and shelved, so the eazy-street route just needs a little funding and exercise!

Assuming it is financially feasable, quit all form of employment, pay off the house, pay off any and all of my debts to those who have been instrumental to my well being and enjoy myself.

Dump the diesel car and get a new gas one, dump the old Vette motor and get it rebuilt to something that generates way more power than I can possibly want (I want a lot right now), sell the RV and get a Class A motorhome and take the wife and dogs on a permanent vacation.
