J Buffetts Free OIL SPILL CONCERT

1 Attachment(s)
On Sunday afternoon in Gulf Shores, Ala., it was almost possible to forget the BP blowout still gushing a hundred miles to the south. The hotels were full, the skies were blue, and only a little oil was washing up on the beach's sugar-white sand. Best of all, Jimmy Buffett was singing.

An estimated 35,000 people showed up for the free concert Buffett gave to help the oil-walloped tourist industry. The Parrotheads, God bless them, wore their Hawaiian shirts and coconut bras, and sang along to the songs they know by heart..................rest of story here

Wow what a great thing..right? Here is the nifty concert T shirt that Jimmy was hawking at his free concert. Notice anything odd?

When is the last time you were on the Georgia Gulf Coast? Mississippi was left off the shirt. Oddly enough Jimmy is a MS native and attended Southern Miss. I am sure he was not in charge of the shirts, probably deligated downstream to marketing.

Ooops.

D'oh!

Much of it was televised, I did catch about an hour of it while I was doing some work work on my laptop. I was hoping to catch some of the Zac Brown Band but I guess he couldn't make it so Jimmy did a couple songs.

I've been working here almost 40 years.

If anyone forgot why he was performing there, he went out of his way to remind them by bashing BP while singing.

He's turned from a talented entertainer to a grandstanding douche.

So... you're on BP's side then? Your comment is really out of line. Jimmy Buffett has always been a talented entertainer, unfortunately people tend to forget this when they hear Margaritaville, or Cheeseburger in Paradise for the fifteen millionth time. Go listen to some of his deep cuts (I still listen to LPs') and you'll gain a new appreciation for his songs. His cover of Stars Fell on Alabama is really good.

To the OP: I'm pretty sure Buffett isn't a Mississippi native, he's from Mobile Alabama.

I never paid any attention to Buffett as an entertainer, but if he can raise some money; that's a good thing.

Why did he become a "grandstanding douche"?
