Looking for things to do in Columbus, Dayton, Indianapolis

I'm driving to Branson, MO this week with my wife and kids. We'll be driving right through Columbus, Dayton, and Indianapolis on our way and they would be good locations for a rest in the drive.

Any suggestions for things to do that would be good with a 2 and 4 year old?

The Children's Museum of Indianapolis looks interesting and my kids have enjoyed that sort of thing before. Zoos and aquariums are possibilities too.

I'll hit the museum and the zoos unless someone knows of another option.

I've been to the art museum in Indianapolis. It was close to thirty years ago, but pretty fun as I recall. I used to live in Louisville in the early eighties.

By the childerns Meuseum is the zoo, the Eitel Jorge Museum (Native American). There is also a Canal with peddle boats you can rent. A little out of your way would be the Indy 500 Museum.
There is the Wright-Patterson Museum between Columbus and Dayton. You kids might be a bit young for that, though.

Lotta things to do you and wife would enjoy. All would bore the heck out of the kids. Zoo or Kings Island amusement park north of Cincy probably best bet. KI is around the exit 24 and 25 off I-71. Not cheap.

Zoo is in Cincy.

The SDL. I've put quite a bit into it to get it ready for the trip. It still needs guide rod mounts and new bushings in the suspension bearing brackets, but other than that, the front end is all new. Hopefully Coda will perform without any issues.

Indianapolis is looking like the best bet to find things to do.

Cosi is in downtown Cbus. I enjoyed it when I was young.

Plus I'm in C-Bus haha, but I don't think hanging out drinking in somones garage surrounded by wrecked 300d's is the right activity for 2 and 4 year olds.

Besides visiting with Matt in Dayton (unless he's already moved to FL)? Keep driving. My brother was in Columbus last week for a trade show and was impressed by the downtown area but probably for sufficiently different reasons than a 2 & 4yo would be.

If you are at all interested in aviation, or even history, you must plan to stop at Wright Patterson AFB. The museum is great. You can take a shuttle across the field to the separate Presidential planes exhibit. Also interesting is the reduction in size of atomic/ nuclear weapons.

Don't pick up any women in Covington, KY.

Childrens Museum and the other things mentioned previously in the Indy references. Broadripple area for lunch or dinner and shopp looking. Adult beverage fun: Broadripple Brewpub. The downtown canals are pretty cool and the Minor League baseball team is always good affordable fun.

Columbus OH - http://www.cosi.org/ - this place WILL have something cool for your children - very highly recommended (and your children are the same age as mine - too bad I live in Cincinnati...)

National Museum of the USAF (Dayton OH) = http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/ Your kids will be a bit young, but big planes tend to attract all ages. Highly highly recommended for anyone who is interested in anything that flies, is made out of metal, or is a fan of our nation's history. Lots of 'static' displays out front too.

East of columbus OH - the wilds - http://www.thewilds.org/ - BIG outdoor nature park/zoo thing. I've never been there, but my friends all tell me that its worth the stop - this might require a full day.

If you are eating near Columbus, I'd recommend http://www.mozartscafe.com/ - Excellent desserts, but you might not want to haul the little ones in. Had to throw this one in there =)
