blog from across the pond

Last Tuesday I got an assignment to go to the UK and do some research work. Am living on one RAF base and working on another.

Still getting over the jet lag but had a very pleasant transatlantic flight.

On one side a British lady who had just returned to LOondon from a month in Hawaii, accompanied byu her husband. The pleasant parts of the journey were an interesting conversation and her very low cut blouse which she wore on the plane, much to my enjoyment. :D:D

On the other side, a 40 ish very attractive lawyer who picked my brain about her trip to Brittany to visit a friend getting married, and who gave me her name and phone for "later" :D:)

Am buying a digital camera tomorrow, I need one, not having had a good one since 2000. More pohotos as the adventure continues.

low-cut dresses and W 123 grilles

Crashed for a while and then got out to get something to eat.

Went to a village square-food court with shops and stalls. Immediately can tell the US girls from the Brits: the locals all wear low-cut sundresses and blouses ! :D:D

I asked one of the older local guys about it and he told me: It's August, they always do that because of the humiditiy!

Note to self: Only visit Britain in August!

I asked about car shows etc and was told I might be able to attend an auto-jumble aka pre-planned flea market, if I hurried.

Got there too late to see much (didn't have to pay, was there 10 min before closing) although one guy had an excellent 123 grille. Like everywhere else, 123s are everywhere.

I did find out something I didn't know: Cars that spend more tha two months in the impound lot are not seized and auctioned, they are crushed, no matter what condition !!:eek::eek:

Makes me wonder what has been crushed in the past that otherwise could have ended up in a junkyard.

Weather here is chilly at night after sundown, a refreshing 48, different from the hot humid weather in Michigan.

But by 9:00 am it gets as warm as it's going to be (unless it rains).

How long are you there for? I took over 500 pic's in the two weeks my wife and I spent there in June. We had a fantastic time, really liked the place and hope to return soon. But would not live there permanently.
