Who is going to watch the meteor shower tonight?

Just wondered if anybody else was going to watch the meteor shower tonight.

Years ago in Seattle, a buddy and I went about 30 miles west of town to get a little more darkness and watched one of the meteor showers. Pretty cool. One blew our minds. As God is my witness, we saw one firey ball come into one side of the horizon and disappear out the other end, tumbling as it went. We were both like, "did you see that?"

I'll look for it tonight. Light pollution round here, not sure what the moon is doing now. When is its peak supposed to be?

Depends on the potency, but if you're doing brownies, you better eat them now, man.

Well, if you're sharing the "brownies" ;-). I think it was between 12 and 3 am. I'm actually heading out between Wendovee and SLC to see it.

Normally takes 45 minutes depending on how much food you have in your stomach.

I'd be much more afraid of the fairies that run around outside.

I've seen a couple of meteor showers in my time. Orionids being the most interesting if I remember, that was when I lived back in SA. I saw the Leonids in 2001 or 2002 from Lost Dutchman state park in Apache Junction. They were certainly worth seeing on both occasions but I always smile at the term "shower". More like "drip" perhaps?

Actually I just realized it's not tonight. It's Thursday night/Friday morning.

Well, I stayed up till about 23:00 but was too tired to keep going beyond that. Been working way to much overtime in the last few weeks

Saw four meteors total. Three Perseids and an arbitrary one going the opposite way. The first I saw was the best with about a 3rd mag head and quite a smoke trail for a second or two. The rest were less noticable than the first. Maybe next year I'll take the Friday off and try and drive outside the city to try and find a dark sky site to view them better.

I happened to step outside to take a call on one of my cars last night when one giant streak went across the sky. It made me think of this thread, but I thought the shower was supposed to be days ago. Now it makes sense.

The phone call came in at 9:24 central time...

Me and the kids went up on the roof and laid back (couldn't get the wife off the ladder)

We seen 3 stream across the sky . Not as spectacular as I expected.
Plenty of stars though.

Maybe its due to the economy?

Do you know what colors they are?

I've heard blue and red.

The trees help in your escape though.
