Feisal Abdul Rauf
There seem to be quite a few folks here who want to know more about the man and his plan. Here are a couple links to actual interviews, with his words accurately reported, in context.

Interesting reading. Thanks! In the pbs interview, seems to me he really hedged his bets a few times, particularly in his answers to the questions about women's issues. On the other hand, his clarification of why he would reach out to Islamist extremist groups makes sense.

Are transcripts the same as a blogger's op ed piece? Please explain. I suppose an "edited" transcript may qualify, but is that the situation here? |

You quoted/linked to a blog- that had an interview. You were rightly called out on that one after your previous post. You sure needed an asterisk on that source so as not look like a hypocrite. You did not do so, and thus you were called out. Case closed. Get over it and learn so you don't do that again.

“Since speaking with Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf on July 16 about the Muslim community center to be built in lower Manhattan, it has been painful to watch the national dialogue around this issue deteriorate into misinformation, hysteria and fear of Islam. Imam Rauf has been overseas and not able to readily answer questions of the media, so the rhetoric from individuals like Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich and others who share their views has continued to distort the real issue at hand. Not all Muslims are terrorists, and the actions of terrorists are certainly not Islamic. This point must be realized if the conversation is ever to elevate beyond these harmful sound bites. It is my sincere hope that by releasing this audio recording and transcript of our recent conversation, those who honestly seek understanding about the Islamic center and the good leaders behind it will find it.” I’ll defer to your supposition: :“READ the transcript of the interview below (edited for clarity):” |
