Question about AC. Non Mercedes

Recently my wifes Saturn compressor self destructed. A mechanic she knows replaced it and a couple of other components for her and re-charged. Since then the system is noticeably less efficient at cooling the car than before. I know nothing about AC and this is not a Mercedes so I'm posting it here asking a general question. I suspect that he may not have charged it back to full capacity. Could that cause it to cool inadequately while otherwise apparently working normall?

- Peter.

It could be undercharged. I would bring it back and have the pressure checked.

If he didn't do a full flush on the system, then the orifice is probably getting plugged with debris. I've seen a lot of guys just blow out the condenser with an air hose and call it good.

Not flushing could also mean too much oil.

Were factory parts used? I'm no expert, but perhaps the compressor was replaced with one that just "fit" and didn't pump through as much refrigerant, or perhaps not as high of a pressure. Its worth a quick check.

Dunno. I'm going to have to do some checking on this.

If the system was never flushed thoroughly both ways (particular reverse) that's your problem.
