Misdiagnosis.. And I'm not talking about a C/E light.
If in every life a little rain must fall, it's hurricane season in mine. Some months back - May into June, I was diagnosed with a "bacterial infection in your intestines," diarrhea, weight loss, etc. Well I've been sitting on this for several weeks, all pins & needles because I didn't have any answers...
The C word..... It's supposedly a rare mild form that effects predominantly men of Middle Eastern / Middle Asian descent. With the weight loss, there is also losing more hair in the last two months than in the last three years, not really losing any more weight but not gaining any back. There are a few growths involved. On the bottom of my right foot, in between the right big toe & the next one, on my right heel & right big toe, a few scattered on my body & neck. Most are kind of below the surface while a couple are on the surface of the skin. I have to go for a chest x-ray Monday because they can form in the lungs as well. The ones on my feet are reeking havoc with my ability to walk. The pain is constant. First visit was three weeks ago. They pretty much knew what it was when they saw me but didn't want to start any course of action. They drew 18 gallons of blood from my right arm and sent them to the lab. I saw the form. There were 10 tests that were ordered, everything from detection of the "C", to STDs, liver & kidney function, immune system, blood sugar,TB, animal born bacteria or parasites since I have a dog.. Went back yesterday. I got 5 injections. Two hefty penicillin shots, mumps, flu & pneumonia. By 4pm I was shivering with fever. I had on my flannel pj pants, a long sleeved shirt and the heat on. I passed out til after 11pm and woke to no more fever. Even though my immune system is strong, the meds I'm about to start can have an effect on it for the first few months so she does not want to take any chances of me getting sick. So here's how my days will start with four meds for at least the next three months starting with today: 20cc liquid med to increase my appetite - even though my appetite isn't an issue as of late, she wants me to eat more. Since my immune system has been in overdrive, my body isn't absorbing all the nutrients it should. Hair loss related to this. 2 pills & 1 pill - mild chemo drugs to be taken in that dosage twice daily. And for now, Tramadol (pain med) to be taken at my discretion for the foot pain. I took my first round at 6am today and so far, none of the "possible side effects," so hopefully that will continue. The prognosis is good. She says three to six months time, I should start seeing shades of the old me. The meds will attack any and all on the growths internally & externally. They will subside, possibly just leaving a scar in their place. The only iffy thing is my feet. Although they will stop swelling as I get better, the pain sensation may not go away completely due to some nerve damage. "Your feet will never be 100% again. We just need to give it 3-6 months to see what % they do come back," were her words. This just has not been my year and there's still two months left to it.

I hope it works out for you. I've had too many friends succumb to cancer. My uncle is undergoing chemo right now for Leukemia. Sounds like a very optimistic prognosis. Stay positive.
